It states on the advert.....
IMPORTANT NOTE - It MUST be glued together… There are no ‘snaps’. There is no way around this. Can you still change the battery when required? Looks a cheap, viable and interesting mod! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I have a Freelander in addition to my Defender so I bought one of these keys for it. (I already have an all in one for my Defender from Dgardel) Easy enough to build up and get the key cut but I only used it for a short time before going back to the original key. It felt cheap when you were using it as there was a lot of give in the case when you were turning the key to start the car.
Also the rubber buttons used to pop out of position when in use. (A drop of superglue would probably have fixed this) What was strange was the fact that the central locking started playing up with the new key even although it was the original key electronics that was inside it.It would take several attempts to lock and unlock on occasion so I took the new key apart and rebuilt my original key and since using it have not had a problem. Taking the new key apart pretty much destroyed it as the superglue was doing its job well! You would have to apply just a few dabs of glue if you wanted to be able to take it apart at any point in the future. I will probably buy another all in one for the Freelander the same type as the Defender key I have. (Footnote) I bought my wife a similar flip key for her Tigra which was slightly different in that it screwed together and had a heavy chunky feel to it. However she came home from work the other day with the key snapped in the ignition as the blade had snapped at the thinnest part where the roll pin holds it in place. Not a big deal to get the broken bit out as there was enough left to get pliers on and enough left for her to turn to start the car! The key was probably about a year old but now back to the spare key. Dgardels all in one key has a quality look and feel to it and I have had no problems with it. It did cost several times more than the cheap flip keys so it `s probably a case of you get what you pay for! And before anyone tries it no you can`t slag me for owning a Freelander! I`ve had it 7 years and its been a great car! (TD4) |
