Swinging rear door on a ute
Just bought my 2010 defender utility, and have one or two little issues i need to sort asap, the rear (load area) door has no way of locking it open, i know, just a bit of wood jammed in is doing it for now, but is there anything sexier available to do the job. My worries are if the door is forced shut there's a fair old amount of leverage available to damage bodywork etc.

Also the mud flap brackets are very very rusty, i've found replacements in stainless steel but was wondering if any were available in ally so if bent can be straightened using a 4lb angle adjuster?

Cheers

Shep

ps just read the anti corrosion sticky, blimey, i need to go and have a lay down in a dark room!

Most people either use an aftermarket ram. You can source your own one or buy from the likes of mudstuff etc.

The only downside of this is that most available ones are well damped and so it the makes door harder to close. Solves the issue, but potentially adds another issue.

If you plan to use your 110 off road often, the best place for your mud flaps is in the bin. They will only get ripped off sooner or later anyway. Wink Wink

Many thanks for that, i looked for a white (search) box on the home page and missed the search heading in the header sorry!

But i do have another question, is there a full width step available for the back end? One of my dogs is old and very big and needs something sorted soon, i can bodge something up from the tow bar plate just wondered if there was a ready made option?

Questions questions.

That may no be exactly what i want but it has given me a great idea, if it were a 6" deep step i'd be very happy, but the idea of relocating the tow bar is much easier than working around it.
