Hi guys,
As most of you know I have been lorry driving for a while now and I have come to the realisation that I am wasting my life behind the wheel of a truck. As such I need to move on as soon as possible, and really in order to be happy I need to do something related to Landrovers, which have afterall been my passion my entire life. So if anyone has anything they think might be of interest please let me know. I don't really mind where it is as I will move for the right position. Please note I am not looking for admin type roles, I want something i can get my teeth into. Thanks for reading. Currently in Oxfordshire. I find most dealers seem value experience over knowledge or competence, but will have a look. 2011 110 USW

Yeah I applied for that, they couldn't even be bothered to interview me, not very impressed with them for a number of reasons. Wouldn't have been a bad job though, assuming they could manage to do things like pay me. In all seriousness I suspect those jobs went to long-standing Landrover employees and strongly doubt anyone was taken on from "outside". Speaking to others who applied they turned down some really exceptional people... 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

8 or 9 years ago that tended to be the case, its was more a retirement top up job but not now. the majority at our local centre have no previous LR connection. with a wide range of ages, 25 - 55yrs. Cheers James 110 2012 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

I would agree that probably is the case with the franchises, but lesser so with the core centres. It doesn't really matter anyway, the point now is to find a different option. 2011 110 USW 1973 Series III 1-Ton 1972 Series III 1-Ton Cherrypicker 1969 IIA 1-Ton 1966 IIA 88" |

Still on the lookout. Really need to sort something soon as my patience is wearing thin with my current employer and I don't want to walk out with nowhere to go. Really would appreciate any suggestions anyone may have. 2011 110 USW

I have found 'networking' such as you are doing on here is the key to finding employment. Where you currently work do they not outsource or contract out? If so you could always approach them for employment perhaps? If you keep your horizons narrow by just wishing to seek a particular niche the likelihood of finding it will be slim. There is also no experience listed mechanical/electrical/qualifications/experience etc. What exactly are you looking for? As vague as your Land Rover related job request is, 'non admin' could be forecourt car cleaning/sweeping, courtesy car delivery/collection to sales or workshop manager? Not having any sort of dig but a professional approach is better than a 'Gizza job' one and may reap better rewards.

I agree with K9F
Unfortunately in this day and age, jobs don't find you, you either have to knock on every door or create your own job. Approach your local independents, get chatting, offer to help out for free in your spare time, join a local 4x4 club, as K9F said, it's all about 'networking' (which is a fancy name meaning get your face out there and known ) You've climbed the biggest obstacle by identifying your lack of 'happiness' in what you're doing and deciding to do something about it ! Next stage is a piece of paper and a pen (pencil or crayon will also suffice ) and make a list of what you like doing, what you can do, how much money you 'need' (different to 'want') etc etc and from that you'll hopefully have more of an idea of the sort of job you are looking for Good luck |

@Nakatanenga.... I would be prepared to move if the circumstances were right. My mother was German, I can speak the language and have 35 years experience in electrical, mechanical and electronic fields. My relatives with whom I've just been on holiday with from Kirchlengern would be cock a hoop too! Feel free to 'pm' me if this wasn't a throw away comment for precise details of my capabilities and experience and we can discuss what is exactly being offered. @22900013A naturally you've got first dibs.....
