Buy a general trim removal tool if you haven't got one already (cost peanuts on E-bay) buy a couple of replacement clips just in case you need any to replace. And also use the tool from under the actual lining so you bring away the lining and clip together. This puts less stress on the actual clips and then they may break if you try to just lever them out. (with the tool between the clip and lining.

I wouldn't just buy a couple of clips, I'd buy enough to replace them all. The fur tree clips are easily damaged and never go back ok if you try to reuse them.
Its pretty easy, remove all side panels, sunblinds etc before starting. Rear end panel first and then start at front and work back. For large panels it helps to have a helper to take weight off while you remove the last few clips and this should mean you don't crease panels. Cheers Steve |

As Steve said, but I would allow for replacing all the FirTrees then you have spare ones if not used. Also, try and get genuine ones and Not Britpart as when you refit the middle section of roof it takes the weight of the front and rear as well and all the Britpart ones I have bought don't seem to have the integrity to take the weight of the roof.
Take the centre section out first and bend it nearly in half or just enough to get it through the back door. The FirTrees are very brittle where the head fits on the shaft so with even the best trim removal tool you are likely to break them. When putting back together keep patient and use a Phillips screwdriver that is large enough for the holes to re-align them. |

Thanks for the info guys!
I ordered the tool today, had a look for the firtrees the genuine ones are around £5 each! Are they really that expensive or am I looking in the wrong place? Sorry about the user name, I have been called other things but probably wouldn't have got away with using them! |

The Genuine fir tree clips aren't cheap but £5 each does sound just a touch high. Try Duckworth parts. (site sponsor) No Guts, No Glory.

I have found some genuine ones on eBay, £10 for a pack of 10 so ordered them. Was planning to star stripping out today but she started running very lumpy on idle yesterday and even stalled once! When warm she is fine ( or seems to be ) getting a bit worried as had a quick look on the forum for this issue and it could be any number of things. She has only done 29k!

Took the roof lining out today to put some sound dampening material behind. Had trouble holding up the lining whilst replacing it so resorted to using my camera tripod.

Cracking idea! I'm about to attempt the same thing, remove the headlining to install some soundproofing.
Tripod at the ready... |

Is it easy to get at the interior light wiring with the headlining removed? I was going to replace the rear with an LED strip for camping and working at night.
