Seems sensible to me. I was thinking of fitting a toggle switch so I can get the voltage of the 2nd battery as well. 1999 Defender TD5 110

I wired mine directly to the batteries so I can read the state of them both via a simple on/off/on switch. I went to the batteries to eliminate any voltage draws through the loom. I can also watch the charge voltage when the engine is running.

and I guess that way you can also check the status of the batteries without having to turn the ignition on. 1999 Defender TD5 110
