Well, this thread has certainly been an eye opener! It's out me off purchasing or even recommending them until these problems have been resolved! An engine to TDi for!

I would personally look closer at the vehicle you all chose to purchase with a three year corrosion warranty and six year paint neither of which is worth diddly squit after the three year point!

Even Land Rover have a warranty that covers some forms of corrosion. Corrosion that does not affect performance during the 4 years of the headlights warranty, nonetheless would significantly effect re-sale value and could be responsible for failure once the warranty period is up. Not a good situation for something costing close to a £1000/pair.
My original Land Rover headlights have no corrosion apart from the retaining rings which are now stainless steel, and those rings are still used for the JW Speaker headlights. I think I'll keep to my Crystals and Osram Nightbreakers for the time being. LANDYWATCH Neighbourhood Watch for Land Rover Owners http://www.landywatch.co.uk/smf2/index.php |

Gentlemen,
I have just had a chat with Eric and shown him the light supports I have for my Noldens. Instead of the rings being just stainless steel, mine are powder coated black and from Nakatanenga: link here http://nakatanenga-tours.de/shop/article_B...RDEF-VA%26 The idea is that the powder coating on these rings would create a barrier between the stainless and the lamp, meaning no direct contact. |

Powder coating does that, you get the same with side steps, wheels carriers, nudge bars,lightbars..... Its not going to effect the use of the light is it... Putting Dreams on Drives at JLR Solihull..

..........then what happens when the powder coating starts coming of the ring, you won't get a nice fit around the light either due to the coating, so....a bit of sanding will only lift what you've had done... Putting Dreams on Drives at JLR Solihull.. |

The Nakatanenga rings fit well on the noldens, and the quality is typical of Nak. I can try to take a picture if that would be useful.

I know this might sound stupid and will probably upset a few on here, but is this the fault of the lights OR is it that they are being fitted on a Defender???
Before you try and dismiss this idea, there is a lot of vibration and movement in a Defender and in places you wouldnt think there should be, but this vibration and movement creates rubbing which no amount of protective coating is going to sort out. Look at some Stainless Steel and Galvanised fittings on Defenders whether factory fit or your fit and there will be a good chance you will see 'wear'. So if that doesn't do it then no powder coating, anodising, painting will be good. Now I haven't got any of this corrosion that everyone is going on about, but then whenever I fit anything to the Defender whether it is aftermarket or just replacing I always put a layer of black engine gasket sealant between the two surfaces and I don't get any of these problems. Just my penny's worth, but it is worth considering..... |

Then I can only hope the Nolden casing is different, and I will take a few other precautionary measures as suggested by SMB and others.

If any body has a specific issue with a product they have bought directly from us then we are more than happy to look at it this has always been the case and always will.
Some of the issues posted on here are the first time I am aware of it so if no one has thought to bring it to my attention until now then I can only start to look at things now. We have always had an open book policy on warranty returns and J W Speaker has the lowest rate of any of our LED lighting manufacturers and Blue Sea occupies the overall bottom slot for electrical devices - which happens to be the best place |

In My opinion the old 8700 corrosion problems are due to broken paint by the rings that Fit too with interference.
The evo ones suffers from the SS contact but a good anticorrosion grease solve the problems. My car is full JWS led and the only problem that I had was from a direction Light that TIM (Mobile Centre) changed quickly. The extended JWS warranty is a plus. Tim customer Service level is a win win plus. Discovery 5 td6 HSE Stornoway Gray Outback Engineering Limited Edition IID Pro MV License |
