BFG MT/MT.?
I have four 265-75X16" BFG mud-terrains that have done 500miles and i was wondering whether to sell them on and get the latest mud-terrain pattern or just fit them?
What would four older style BFG's fetch on here?
Thanks. 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Reddot, reckon you'd easily get £100 each if not more.

Of all the tyres I've tried so far, the original BFG MT has been my favourite.

I'd fit them and not worry about the new one. 2003 Defender 90 Td5 CSW Belize Green - "Betty"

Second the above. I preferred the original MTs to the KM2s. Harder wearing, longer lived, and rarely punctured. My last two sets (on my Disco2) did over 100k miles each. The KM2s on the Defender are great tyres but require more careful moving round on the car to ensure even wear, and I have had two puntures in the last 50k miles (never once got a puncture with the originals). The KM2s also constantly pick up stones etc.

I still reckon that the KM2 is the best all-round multisurface tyre available today, but the original MT was better.

I need a new set of boots for the Disco at the moment, so the best thing would be for you to sell me your MTs and buy new KM2s for your Defender! Rolling with laughter

Yes, but not sure what size your originals were (perhaps the same?) but you have larger than standard size tyre's so more likely to pick up a puncture just on that along. Unless of course your talking like for like sizing.
But the KM2 as far as I am concerned has been excellent in every way even on road for an off road bias tyre. Smile No Guts, No Glory.

First I would check the DOT code for date of manufacture.

Tyres do age even without use. If less then 3 years old I would fit them. If more then 5 years old I would consider selling them especially if doing low annual mileage. Tyre ageing/cracking could become an issue before you got good use out of the tyres.

'Right' and 'best' are very subjective, but they'll certainly fit. It's what I've got as it happens. Darren

Steve, my comparison is between 200k miles in the Disco on 265/75 original MTs and 60k miles in the Defender on 285/75 KM2s. The usage profile has been identical. Disco zero punctures, Defender 2 punctures.

The KM2 is in my opinion the best tyre on the market, but the old "KM1" was better.

Incidentally the Michelins that were OE on the Disco were appalling for punctures - about one a month.

Have a good look at them for cracks etc as these must be quite old now. Andy.
