I have some of these cameras coming into stock this week and some of these monitors that hopefully fit onto the original interior mirror stalk but will know more when they arrive.

Simon

Simon, did you get these cameras in? If so how much do they cost?
Also how long would you expect it to take for installation?
Thx

Assuming this is a non-runner now, at least as far as MPS Trading is concerned?

I have one quite similar to this but still not installed, I have problems to decide the best location Sad
Not in the upper part due the blockade of the spare wheel); in the middle can be damaged and the only space available can be the rigth side inside the crossmember but I dont like to have it not centered...

Cheers! Eduardo

Here's mine. Hidden above the rear plate, below the plate light. I personally think its a really neat solution.

Slightly off centre, but I put it there so I could see the tow hitch. Takes a bit of getting used to the angle, but with it, I can get close enough to hitch the trailer on my own. (Trailer and contents weigh in pretty heavily, and arent really manouverable by one person!)

Does anybody run their rear view camera permanently whilst driving?

Would like two cameras one perm showing what is behind, and switching across to show tow hitch when revers selected. So do I need a monitor (want rear view mirror type) with single display but two inputs or a twin monitor?

It would be possible easily with it correctly wired. Would be useful to keep an eye on trailer load to the rear as well for example if anything was coming loose or jumping about in the rear. Ideally IMO if you wanted two cams you'd need two displays (of any type) even if you have the capability to do a split screen display it won't be much good IMO. No Guts, No Glory.

Having a rear window grill, tinted windows, and now planning to install dog guard, the rear view mirror is not that much use. So a permanent display, that is just an electronic version of a standard rear view mirror would be ideal. But the ability to see the hitch, both for connection, and just for parking, would be ideal, but only required while reversing.

Some monitors have two very small displays, but would prefer a full mirror size display, that switches between the two cameras with reverse light/switch controlling this.

You could either have one constantly on and the other reverse switched only OR one on a switch on the dash (so it's not constant but can be) and the other on via the reverse.
Saying that why would you need two would one not be okay and switch between the two purposes? Or are we talking about different angles? No Guts, No Glory.

You can get them, they are intended for trucks:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...1183365071

This one is from a Hong Kong seller, so take with large dose of salt. Note that its intended modus operandi is to have one of the twin screens permanently showing one rear camera, with the other showing...a DVD! Obviously a responsible LR owner would never do such a thing. Am sure you could wire up the reverse signal input to a switch on the dash, so that you could have the 'trailer cam' on permanently when towing. Real trucks don't have spark plugs

I have been foll owing this thread with interest.

I am now waiting for my 110 to arrive and would be very interested if one of the site sponsors (SGH or others?) could fit one of these systems. Mr. Green

If so, how much would it cost to have this done, please, since my ability with wiring begins and ends with a standard 13A plug?
