Does anyone know if the basic basic model of Puma without ABS and traction control has the anti-stall?
Yesterday got stuck in some sand, took my foot off the cluch expecting wheels to spin and it just stalled... Recently had a new clutch and wodering if i dont have antis-stall, or if the sand was too deep or is the mechanic broke somthing when replacing clutch... any ideas? |

Remember anti stall only works when you first start up, and stays active until you touch the accelerator pedal.
If you didnt restart after getting stuck then anti stall wont work ... Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |

Anti stall works in 1st and reverse gears in low box only. I believe it's fitted to all Tdci models, it's certainly fitted to our County spec USW and works exceptionally well in the Training mode we bought it for.

Anti stall works in all gears in both hi and lo ratios, but in high ratio and high gears depending on the engine load can induce a stall. Idle Jack works in lo ratio 1st and reverse only and is designed to overcome the enormous amount of engine braking which could induce a slide when descending/ascending a steep slope. LANDYWATCH

Idle jack is when the engine tickover is increased to around 1200rpm.

On YouTube there are videos of people getting out of their Puma's walking alongside while it runs along on anti-stall, then getting back in. i can confirm as above, on a TDCi anti stall works in all gears; high and low. obviously the lower gear the better it is and the more time the engine ECU will have to react to make the anti stall effective.
the sand could well of been creating sufficient drag to make even TDCi anti stall struggle to cope Touching the accelerator does not turn it off on the TDCi but it does on the Td5. Idle jack works in low 1st and rev and as above increases engine revs to around 1100rpm. this is to increase the vehicle speed and not provide too much engine braking when using low 1st and rev for descents as too much engine braking will increase the risk of losing traction. Sorry but I think you will find that anti stall works in 1st & reverse in Low box only. The idle speed in these gears is also increased. It most certainly does not work in all other gears.
