Have a look at my profile pics as my 110 is a Dormobile and has 2 beds, wardrobe, cooker, long line draw and other bits and bobs...
Click image to enlarge We worked on the ‘keep it simple’ model for many years and have evolved our traveling into what we have now. Its not for everyone’s taste, but suits our particular style. The seats are able to be used as normal, so leaving you with a usable wagon, and clear boot area. They fold down to give you 2 full size beds when needed. There is a water tank along the frame outside under the driver’s seat, and a gas bottle fitted outside under the rear left hand wing. The cooker has 2 burner rings and a power sink tap. We don’t have a fridge by design - so that saves a lot of hassle with batteries, and leave a lot of space… . I’ve seen more issues with fridges than any other bit of kit on a trip!! A simple 240 volts inverter give us power for charging laptops and camera batteries, and lots of LED lights and nets finish it off. We have a High lift jack secured in the passenger foot well and window vents for the rear doors allow fresh air at night. As the setup is continually evolving, we are always looking at things to improve what we do and at the moment I’ve just got a Espasher air heater to be fitted next that will probably go under the rear seats for winter warmth! (Thanks Steve! ), a duel battery & split charge system will go with this to allow the accessory equipment to run over night and save the main battery for the vehicle services only. Other plans are for a long range tank in the wing and cruise control… Poppy - TDCI (Puma) 110XS 2.2 - Camper conversion - see the build here - https://www.defender2.net/forum/topic56530.html Elgar -TDCI(Puma) 110XS Dormobile - now sold Devon & Cornwall 4x4 Response - DC126 |

Hi wyvern, love your Dormobile conversion. How comfortable are the seats - as seats and as beds?
I don not believe I could use the normal Dormobile bunks (to old, big and heavy ). |

Hi Icerover
we have just spent 18 nights in Norway in the 110 camping all the way. and driving over 3400 miles so put them to good use! I find the seats fine as seats and as beds but Madam Wyvern likes them with additional padding to sleep on. she also adds a little bit of lumbar support - but she does have a bit of a bad back at times. Driving, the seats are a little flatter and wider than the standard ones, but having had them for about 14 yrs now I'm very used to them. it suits us and our way of travel, but try and see some before you but (we will be at Peterborough this year so PM me if you are coming over and I'll give you the grand tour!) Thats quite a feat Wyvern. I usually get a little restless in our Combicamp type trailer after 14 days . But if they are ok for a an 18 day tour they must be reasonably comfortable.
I actually live in Norway now ( Bergen area ). Where did you go in No? There are many beautiful places here. I have family i Romsey, and was there a couple years ago, but did not know at the time that Dormobile are based in Romsey. I deed to try these seats out as they might fit our needs especially for fishing and hunting trips. Best regards Kjartan |
