I think that has turned out rather well. I never did like those grey/silver fronts. 2011 110 USW

Thanks all - pleased you think it looks ok, I know it's the opposite of most front end make-overs I've seen... more a make-under! Very Happy

Will keep an eye out for you Martin - very local to me! Thumbs Up

I really like this defender, very classic.

I'm half considering getting some white wolfs and MTRs for my UW when it turns up as some winter rims.

The only problem I can see with that is they look so good in the sun you'll want to leave them on all year round Laughing

Well here's the rack install (and RAI)... Really pleased with the Brownchurch HD kit - not as heavy as it looks either (36kg including ladder and waist struts according to the courier label).

Proper pics to follow, just thought I'd upload one from my phone for starters.

I have a Maggiolina Safari roof tent being fitted on Saturday, then I can crack on with fitting the Foxwing. Getting there slowly! Very Happy

What RAI is it?

Does it require much drilling? 1951 80" S1 2.0

It's the one from Blanchard's on eBay with military-spec powder coating (much better quality!) here.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Land-Rover-Defen...1e6f81a285

It requires one extra hole drilling in the wing around the air intake hole and drilling of the windscreen frame for a couple of brackets (unless you mount it on the roof rack waist strut like I have).

Hope that helps!
Steve.

I think that's a much better solution than having to drill the windscreen frame. Do you have any close up photos of where the waist strut attaches to the bulkhead?

I will take some detailed pics later - basically you remove the screen hinge and drill through where the centre bolt hole is in the hinge. The new bolt passes from the strut through the hinge and through the bullhead panel. I figured it was fairly cheap and easy to replace the hinges if I ever wanted to get rid of the rack. The rear struts require a hole to be drilled through the capping, but this could be filled with a rivet if the rack was removed. I will post some pics later...
