Location of tiny heatshield near exhaust manifold location?
I just replaced my clutch. Everything went quite ok and I managed to fit everything back into place - except one tiny heatshield that fell of the engine. It is somewhere below the larger exhaust manifold heatshield and should be mounted with some clip or so.

Could someone tell me where it comes from? If possible with a picture or so?
I can't find it in the documentation I found....

Thanks!
Paul

Hi, it's the crankshaft position sensor shield, it can be an absolute Censored to put on, check it doesn't need reriveting to its little bracket with a penny washer, it just clips on but is awkward, it goes just below where the egr cooler meets the manifold, also make sure you have re attached you earth leads to the box or you will have some funny light action and also make sure your breather is still in the top of your box.

Aha thanks! So this is where it should be! I already tried to put it up there but couldn't see where it should snap to, but I'll try again.

I'll see if I can get it back on tomorrow. Maybe I should just put another pop rivet in because I've read they tend to come loose...

The other connectors, earth cables and breather hose are fine. I spent 1,5 hour looking for where the last cable on the top should be connected to, but after taking the cubby box and seatbox plate out on my dad's Defender I saw this cable isn't connected to anything... Whistle

Ha, ha! Checking my turbo heat shield fastenings to try and get rid of an annoying zingy little rattle at certain revs and hey presto I find the CPS sensor shield is loose and floating about. Unless you have hands like a debutante how the 'kin hell are you supposed to get it back on? Shocked Steve.

I managed to do so with a lot of swearing and kicking to the tyre - put no way I get it a tight fit. It stays loose (not the shield on the clip but the clip to the gearbox housing). As soon as I bent the clip it wouldn't go in anymore so I bent it back.

Took me about 45 mins... Evil or Very Mad looks like a cheap retrofit solution

Yeah it's cr@p. One of the pop rivets was pulling through the tin foil so I drilled them both out and fitted larger headed rivets with washers underneath. The bracket just sits in a fairly big void - precision engineered it is not. Steve.

Does anybody know the part number for this heatshield? Can't find it nowhere, neither can my dealer! <img>
