i have a theoben classic Break Barrel @ 12ftlbs
i intend to stick with as much a traditional look as possible. daystate could be worth a punt. Airwolf arent ones i have come across before. will have to google. anyone personal exp of them in FAC? do you need regulated for FAC? You won't go too far wrong with a Theoben Rapid as mentioned, basic operation, well made and accurate. I have one at 28ftlbs and its spot on out to around 80yds
 The only issue there is that they don't make them any more so it'll have to be 2nd hand, although that's not a bad thing.
Also as mentioned any of the Daystate fac are good. Airwolf or mk4 if you want to try something electronic, or AirRanger for non electronic. They also are doing a uk version of the 308 export one (forgot the name) pf that. I know Tony at Daystate quite well, he recommended to me not to bother with regulated if its electronic as that sorts it out. I have had good service and results with a mk3 as a target rifle. The air wolf is a nice gun, but not everyone gets on with the ambidextrous stock, so try before you buy if you can, although I know that's hard to do sometimes. My rapid and BSA super ten are both regulated though and both super accurate. I believe that BSA and AirArms both make an fac version or one of theirs and will most likely be pretty good I have always found air arms accurate out of the box, whereas some others need a bit of a tweak to get them running spot on (sounds familiar doesn't it!) One other thing to bear in mind is noise, if you are concerned about that (maybe shooting around horse fields) then the moderator set up is worth considering.
There seems to be a move towards shrouded barrels nowadays and these (in my experience) don't seem to give as good silencing on fac guns, so there are additional moderators which can go on the end. This might make them a bit long, especially if you are shooting from a vehicle so maybe an unshrouded barrel carbine might be better in that circumstance. My Rapid has the standard evolution moderator on it and its pretty quiet, Hugget overbarrell moderators are well thought of as well as a John Bowkett special if you are looking at a BSA - if you do think of BSA its worth talking to John anyway as he designed the superten (and a few others) and he will prepare one for you. He did a 'blueprint' on mine and it transformed the gun. He will set it up as you want and also tunes it to use specific pellets for best results. He is retired and sometimes hard to get hold of, but well worth talking to as he knows everything and happy to talk you through stuff. Airwolf, Airranger, Rapid and Superten/R10 use a screw on 'buddy air bottle' which isn't to everyones taste appearance wise, but does give a better shot count (particularly the Airwolf big boy) and on some you can take an extra small bottle into the field (some are fixed though) which helps. Be careful when you apply for your variation as you say your Rimmy is "too much", your FLO may deem the land to be unsafe? Up here the chances of having a RF & a FAC PCP on ticket are slim... maybe it is my location but the same Government that declined me having two .22.250's are queing up to give Syrian cannibals anything they want?? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Thats a nice rifle, we have one or two as 'club guns' in 12ftlb and nicely accurate out of the box. Everyone who's had a shoot with it hits stuff and that's unusual! Think they do a double cylinder version of that as well for fac - odd looking but good shot count. I have a 12ftlb Theoben Sirocco from the late 80s - walnut thumb hole stock
- and it's as accurate, powerful and beautiful as it was the day I bought it, despite only sporadic use in recent years (officially too powerful for Germany).
That's a real credit to the quality of the brand 
p.s. Seriously good for dispatching rabbits in the early days... Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Hmm I need to find out if airguns are legal here.
There's a large tree at the end of our garden that is full of dirty horrible crows.They scare all the nice little birdies that we want to see around and they're just plain evil looking things so if I take a few pot shots at them they might just eff off (being clever as they are - whereas pidgeons for instance are plain stupid and would not be fazed by a bit of a cull) |

Air Ranger is looking favourite so far, i just need to delve in to the FAC variations side of things now and work out what to do with the Patriot. Air wolf would be nice but i am not so keen on the electrics.
Is the Air Ranger regulated? DJH - point on sound moderation taken will ensure i get something with it. scope wise - suggestions? as i may end up keeping the Patriot with its scope. i currently use Nikko Sterling 4-12 x 40 Tasco 6 x 40 Tasco 3-9 x 50 Tasco 4-14 x 40TR as you can see all pretty old style scopes - i was into the sport a while back! so whats new and on a par with those and of use, range finding useful but not essential. i tend to shoot on 6x for 90% of the time and want something with good light gathering credentials. is it 6mm the eye works best with? How about a fixed mag scope? I've got a nice 10x MTC viper on my Daystate, side focus wheel and nice clear optics. Saves worrying about different aim points for different magnifications. I've had/have a variety of zoom scopes but find I tend to leave them all on one setting so why bother with it, just more to go wrong.
If they are old school Tasco scopes then they are most likely pretty good bits of kit, so maybe no need to get anything else

They are old school i would of thought, 20yrs +?
