that must be an early factory shakedown model being on a 1927 plate,so the battary hasn't done bad eh :whistle:did something just get changed
the radio has a permanent feed but it shouldn't flatten the battary,possably a short somewhere. 2.4 90 XS 1968 1/32 scale Britains 109 Pick up. |

You sure the alternator is working good?
Battery problems I would go down the route of A. Alternator- are you draning the battery as you drive. B. Battery itself (If it has been discharged a few times too many it won't keep a charge for long) C. Other drains such as lights still on, stereo not turning off etc. Glyn |

yes it went flat once before and it's only on starting running is fine. the radio has a security LED surely not that?? every thing seems perfect to me lamps were LR fitted and radio is just plug and play and you can manually have it turned off anyway had it in other cars no prob at all

Sonds like the battery to me then. Have it 'drop tested', this will show if it is or not.

I had a faulty central locking solenoid on my 110 which ran the battery flat sometimes but not others. Could be worth the getting your dealer to take a look if you have central locking.

If you're technically able....
Disconnect the positive lead from the battery and if you have a multimeter to hand or can borrow one select it to Amps and then connect it between the disconnected positive lead and the positive terminal on your battery. It should only read milliamps at best. Any more and you will know that there is either a short circuit or a system is drawing sufficient current to flatten your battery. By a simple process of pulling fuses you can tell what circuit it is. If none of the above as mentioned check the voltage output of your alternator if around 14 volts go buy a new battery or get a capacitance check carried out on it!. Halfords if you have one near enough has a gadget that can tell if your battery if fooked in seconds, head there if possible. Hope this helps. Definately follow the advice of the thread here. Make sure that you also test the battery current (disconnecting the positive lead and placing your ammeter in-inline) with the doors closed and the alarm armed.
This way you will replicate what happens when you leave the vehicle locked and unattended. My 08MY 110 is currently with the dealers for the same symptom. Having done the simple earth drain and voltage checks, including a new battery, the vehicle still refuses to start if left for more than 2 days idle. LR still investigating. numerous home start callouts identified the issue so now its over the the dealer.... will post more as i hear about it. ignorance is bliss... |

i have bought a multi meter today so i'll try that. problem is i dont want to take every thing off (radio all that) to find the batterys had it or vise versa. what is the draw supposed to be when idle parked if any?

Engine off, doors shut and alarm set, the current draw should still only be milliamps (maybe 250ma? This is a guess of course but certainly no more than that) as it should only be the alarm, clock and radio presets that would be supplied. If any more start pulling fuses to determine what circuit is drawing the current.
For example if you've got a 40 ampere hour battery and the vehicle is drawing 0.8 amp in 50 hours your battery will be as flat as a dodo! Good luck! i have just tried a multimeter and with my spot lamps wired in its 0.18Ma and iwthout its 0.02Ma could this be it?
