Rear Seat Rake
Hi,

Does anyone know if it is possible to adjust the fixed rake of the 2 rearmost seats in a Station Wagon, before I start stripping the mechanism thought I'd see if anyone else has done this. If not I'll report back.

I believe Exmoor trim sell replacement rear seats with adjustable rake.
I would be interested to hear how you get on with this as my children complain that the seat backs are too vertical. What are the consequences of modifying these yourself?

If you have modded yourself and there's an accident that has these showing non standard damage then your insurance will likely invalidate the claim, or at least that part. It's all to do with testing & H&S!

Take the point about insurance and modifications, I was rather hoping that there may be a simple adjustment which had, perhaps, been set too vertical at the factory, I'm not about to take an angle grinder to it Sad if it's not possible then we'll just have to live with it, I can't really afford to replace them with the Exmoor ones.

Has anybody opened up the mechanism or done this? I am trying to get this done for my 2nd row as well as 3rd row on my 110, all the seats are too upright.

EDIT - I've just read the OP properly and realised that you were asking about the two rear seats in an SW, not the secod row in a DC/SW/USW.

There was a thread on the subject of 110/130 2nd row seats last year here and quoted below, but I'm afraid it probably won't help you, sorry!

Hi,

I know this thread has been idle for a while. I recently converted my puma DCPU to a SW and without the rear window panel longer in place, I can now modify the middle row seats to recline further. So, I thought I share some pics in case some of you are still interested with the mod.

As it turns out, You just need to remove 4 bushings installed in the hinges to recline the seats further. But you'll need to first remove the seat covers and cushion foam to have access to the hinge assembly. Once hinge plate removed, the bushing can be easily slided off.

My middle row seats now reclines further (though not significantly more) but the difference is huge in terms of comfort!

I have the individual Exmoor trim seats Elite second row and they recline well. The only issue I have is that there isnt much room for anyone too tall behind me as i have the seat riser on the drivers side. But overall a good seat with a high reclining back on an individual frame.

A bit of a thread revival.....again....

May be taking the 90 to Croatia with SWMBO and our daughter who is 9. For comfort and so our daughter can sleep perhaps?.......

Without Exmoor Trim replacements, has anyone successfully carried out any modification to adjust the rake of the REAR seats. As stated the links are gone and I am interested in possibly achieving the same result if it is a safe and proven method? Photos if it's not too much to expect would be fantastic as they do indeed 'paint a thousand words.'

Thanks. Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Hi, Is there any reasons not to do this? Does it only work on the single seat or on the twin Puma seat too?

Thanks
