Civilising the beast
Hi all,

Chris from CSK carried out some work on my 110 to try and civilise it a bit. I realise that I could've bought a Disco, a Freelander etc, but I like Defenders and wouldn't really want to drive anything else. Very Happy

Comments from the peanut gallery while driving led me to take these steps, now hopefully everyone else will be happy during long journeys. Laughing

Chris did a super job - he covered the interior in Dynamat and added Dynaliner in some spots, swapped out the dampers for Bilsteins and a load of other stuff. Top quality, his attention to detail is second to none.

One of the biggest surprises was how much of a difference a new RTC damper makes. I no longer have all that play in the wheel; now you move it even just a tiny bit and the vehicle responds.

The other dampers make the 110 much easier to drive, and the soundproofing means that I can have conversation at a normal level, or even hear the radio, at 70mph.

Also - not related to mods, but servicing - I can't believe how much improved the gear changes are after changing the t-box oil, didn't think it would have any difference but there you go.

Last but not least - those LEDS for the dome lights make a difference Chris, good call and thanks!

Thumbs Up

Of course now that I have the Landie back, Mrs. Eutek's car is on the fritz... E-class Merc sitting immobilised in her work car park, think the ECU is playing up or some other electronic bit of black magic... Oh well!

So will see you on Handy Cross roundabout wiggling about as you oversteer and then compensate from your new found steering reactiveness haha.

Have to agree, Chris is a damn good egg when it comes to honest assistance and great service. ===================================

Are the B6 shocks a big difference from standard? In what way??

Also, which steering damper is the maestro Chris recommending?

Indeed, Chris is ace when it comes to good service. Thumbs Up

The Bilsteins took out the "crashiness" out of the ride.

Prior to this, the 110 was very bouncy, save for when it was heavily loaded, but I don't run it with a big load in the back all that often. Usually carries the family around, who consist of myself and three small ladies (well, two small ladies and one tiny toddler).

I had messed around with tyre pressure and that had a small effect, but it was still rather "crashy", for lack of a better term. The Bisteins seemed to even a lot out, plus the 110 corners a lot better.

It isn't like a cushy limo, don't get me wrong, but it is much better - especially for those in the back.

I'm using their B6 RTC damper as well - which made a huge improvement as I previously stated.
