United Kingdom 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Indus Silver
Coughing
I think I have seen a thread recently on this but I cannot find it so bear with me.

In essence, my 05 TD5 behaves very well with not obvious probs. It does however produce a "cough" now and again, recognizable at 40ish MPH and when in 4th or 5th gear and is just a momentary stutter.

No issue really unless this is an indication of a prob waiting to happen but interested in any similar experiences.

Thanks Socks Sweatysock

That sounds like the MAF on its' way out. Had a similar thing on a DII where it would miss or stutter every now and then, and a new MAF cured it. Darren

The MAF is just after the air filter box, it has two clips holding it on to the air filter box and a jubilee clip the other side, and one connector on the side at the top, easy to find/deal with.

It does sound like a MAF. If it is and it needs replacing, get one from alive, they are cheaper than dealers and are uprated units Thumbs Up
