Greece 2007 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 CSW Alpine White
On my 110 Puma, I was getting a metal clicking noise on rough trails at any RPM, like metal plates vibrating against each over.
Would drive me crazy, stopping half a dozen time to check what was coming apart, to no avail.
Weeks later, while cleaning underneath the engine compartment I banged on the steering damper!! eureka, the outside sleeving tube bangs against the inner tube, so rough trail produce that sickening noise.
No harm done, and easily solved with a piece of bike inner tube. <img>

This was indeed the case identified by the workshop crew today. Slightly press the break when travelling at a known "rattle road" and the noise is gone.

I get a noise you can only describe as a dull bongy spring type noise. It last for a couple of seconds, I know its not the clutch as it had a new one on Warrenty recently

Sounds like the springs in the clutch pressure plate that is loose. There is a recall out for that.

I have just had this and my wheel bearings needed nipping up. All good now. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.
