Hamish
glad you're enjoying .. oh and so envious of your location albeit shipping might be expensive. I'm no good on doing searches but if you have a go I'm sure you'll come across other threads where exactly what you've described has been done. and to the best of my knowledge has worked fine. good luck. |

Haven't done mine yet either

Hamish, you can remove the cat, drill out the contents and re-fit. Save the bucks for more beer --

I can't say that I can hear the turbo more, but then it's been bucketing so hard here it's hard to hear anything else. I also cannot correlate increase in mileage/drivability since I also did the BAS v2 remap at the same time. -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

Thanks for the feedback guys. Zedefender - those are great pictures from the 2012 thread... but I'm a bit confused as you've said you haven't done yours yet... - have you drilled it out but not fitted it yet?

Oh another question. When I remove and refit my prop shaft, should I be using a torque wrench to tighten back up? If so, does anyone know how tight? I'm a bit of a novice when it comes to these things - but looking forward to getting messy with my defender... cheers, Hamish

Ok so I drilled out the cat material - lots of mess and dust. Quite an easy job and results are great. I also got the mid-box silencer removed and a new piece of pipe welded in. Second day driving it and has a real noticeable difference. More pull, turbo appears to spool up quicker - as everyone else commented it would. Strange thing is it doesn't sound any different - I would have thought that removal of the mid silencer would have made more of a throaty but it hasn't... wondering if the decat downpipe would make a difference here vs me just punhcing out the material of the existing pipe (with the bulge in it). Someone suggested I take off the battery leads for 24 hours to let the ECU 'reset' to a new exhaust system... ? Anyway, sound aside I'm pleaased with it. Remap next!
