It was a brilliant day, great weather and excellent company
And before anybody else gets in there first, yes the LRE leader (Minty) and myself did get stuck halfway up the final climb whilst doing a recce on the route to the Plague village, those bluebell leaves are like glass when crushed A quick bit of self recovery with the winch sorted me out and Minty did some rather nice sliding maneuvers on said crushed bluebell leaves to get out. At least we didn't have to turn back because of a twig (well big twig........OK tree ) on the track like the other group did, we had the chainsaw with us Needless to say, none of us got to see the Plague village, but the cream tea on the estate at the end made up for it Bob 2015 Jaguar XE240 R Sport - goes like ....... !! 2013 Defender 90 CSW - sold 2009 Defender 110 Double Cab - sold 2001 TD5 90 CSW - offroad project - sold to a forum member 2011 Porsche Boxster - for the sunny days ! |

I have just got my tool box back where it belongs and bolted it down to the one below so it does not go walkies again. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

Great day on Exmoor, once again. Thanks to Minty, Paul and Jim for leading us and guiding us on how to extricate ourselves from the mud when stuck. Thanks to Gav and Annie for pulling my beached 110 out of the mud. The kids thought it was a hoot with all the mud and water. They were cheering Black Betty when she managed to do all the tricky stuff the more "tricked out" defenders were doing!! Looking forward to another defender day, and great to meet all you guys. Some great looking vehicles out there, I can see what bits I will be asking for on the next few birthdays and Christmas. Andrew, Beth and the kids, as well as a now clean Black Betty |

My 90 "Faith" still has glorious Exmoor mud on her, though today's rain has cleaned the painwork.
I have had an email from LRE WC's Paul Siely asking for feedback, & have asked for another Defender day this year. Soon as it can be arranged I'll book it! Next mods will be a tank guard & X-Engineering disk hand brake. Holes in under chassis armour are better than solid sheet, easier to flush out what gets scooped up!
