you washed it before going to the dealer Shocked
mine has always been valeted by my dealer to an excellent standard however dirty it was when they got it!

Two weeks ago it was at the dealer for installation of the 12S plug, and they put it thru their car wash installation. Got it back full of white dried spots left by their car wash which obviously leaves a lot of drops everywhere. I will tell them clearly that they better don't put it thru their automatic wash tomorrow, or I will make them hand wash, polish and towel dry it as yet. Twisted Evil
Of course, they are free to vacuum it tomorrow, but actually inside it is also spic and span already. Whistle You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Well yesterday I spent most of the day washing and polishing it, and then my Dad's D3. It took longer than I expected Shocked

Then today I tried to take the steering wheel off, only to find that I didn't have the right size socket Rolling Eyes Nipped down to Halfrauds, got a 22mm socket, and then ran out of time to get it off. Oh well, another job for tomorrow... An engine to TDi for!

Gum, maybe you have read this already in other posts on steering wheel removal subject.... Make sure you partly loosen the nut holding the steering wheel, but do not take it off Exclamation Leave the nut still a couple of turns on the bolt. Then pull the steering wheel loose, and only when that has happened, undo the nut completely and remove it.... Take the steering wheel off...
Doing it this way makes sure you keep all your teeth in good shape without seeing the dentist Thumbs Up You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Took off my steering guard, cleaned it up, flatted it down and resprayed it as the rust brown colour didn't quite go with the rest, leaving it to dry for a couple days and then reinstalling it..

Cheers for the reminder Eric. I've seen someone make that mistake before, so I'll be ultra careful! Thumbs Up An engine to TDi for!
