Hi guys and gals
Just a comment really. It seems amazing that I've finally found a superb vehicle that I have so much fun in and the only thing that is negative is the ..........dealerships. Does anyone out there have a good dealer? I can see why the forum refer to them as 'stealerships'. I just tried to get the nearside passenger door lock sorted - doesn't lock with central locking. The first dealer booked it in with promises of a courtesy car then changed the date and said £30 for a hire car. The second dealer booked it in and kept it all day and did sod all with it and automatically assumed I would waste another day bringing it back - no apology not even a cup of tea. It's a shame the dealers spoil our experience. Are they specially trained in nobology or am I just a grumpy old man? Steve |

I predominantly use two dealerships, one near to my place of work which is TH White Wootton Bassett and Westovers in Christchurch near Bournemouth my home. It must be said both have given me excellent service with complimentary tea, coffee, chocolate etc. coupled together with regular updates if you are waiting for your car, if not, the courtesy vehicle has always been free with the exception of the diesel/petrol you use.
If it's not warranty work you're after an independant is also worth considering. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Hunters in Kings Lynn have been brilliant on the warranty front. They pick up the truck, drop me a free loan car(Freelander) if I need one, keep me up to date with what the problems are and when they will be fixed, then bring the truck back clean.

Hunters Guildford have been pretty good, always get a courtesy car (Freelenader or Disco) though it took a few visits to sort out the EGR valves on our Disco 3.

Roger Young in Plymouth - not cheep but on the ball - no issues after buying 2 defenders from them over the last 15 yrs

Did you see that Land Rover came out top in a US satisfaction survey? Mostly to do with their outstanding dealer service! Doesn't say much for your average US dealer
Steveandlooby - if you're in Bedfordshire then maybe you're not too far from Newport Pagnell? If so then try Stratstone there. I use them and, on the whole, am impressed. I have very high standards and they don't always come up to scratch but on the whole they've done very well and the vehicle has been in plenty of times. The US market and customer service is 100% different to the UK - always has been. and example, LR would replace peoples drives when the new (300tdi) disco leaked on them. On Roger young - i had problems with them when buying the then new 300 disco off them, more aftersales than sales Mike |

You are not alone in this; in Australia, whilst most of the dealers are courteous, their lack of knowledge of the product is astonishing. I had a 110 crew cab pickup "on hold" and when it came to the time to do the deal, it turned out to be a single cab. If you look at "carsales.com" or any of the Oz selling sites, you will see single cabs quoted as four doors, my 110 that I have just bought is listed as a 130. Just by searching on the net I have learn't more about all these vehicles than the dealers can tell me. I have found myself saying to them "no,no that is not correct" etc. A couple of Land rover dealers don't even have a website - they actually do, but it is for Ford or something. If you search their site, you might get sent to Landrover Australia, which is a cut down version of the UK site, with very little info. My last HSE D3 was serviced mostly by a country dealership, who literally has no idea and frankly I think doesn't care much either. Servicing in Sydney is a different proposition and there are a couple of good service depots there.
All pretty frustrating. |

Service here awful. Sales guy pretty good.
Technically they might be OK, but customer service is AWFUL! Last time I had to wait so long, I just left my keys and the booklet, left and send an email to the MD with the instructions. I had a courtesy vehicle provided by my sales guy, so I did not care much. Boldly going nowhere Discovery 3 after a Defender 110 Crew Cab TD4 and a 1964 SIIA 88 Regular. |

Main dealers
Have recently bought a brand new Defender Utility wagon from a local dealership. Pre delivery inspection? I did that and told them to sort out door alignmnt etc. Had to show them where the battery was located. It is going back in for 3rd/4th time to sort out door seals. Have had them reposition floor pan. Am looking forward to getting a friend of mine to go over it with a fine tooth comb in a couple of months when we put on long range tanks etc. He is MOT inspector and builds comp trucks. Wonder how long his list will be. Finally got to talk to the general manager of the multi site dealership. He did understand Defenders They sell 3,500 Land Rovers/year but only 50-60 are Defenders Of 120 staff he said only about 16-20 were LR nuts and readily admitted that his staff don't understand Defenders. Communications from this dealership? Working speedily? Will they get to service our Land Rovers We have several dealership close to us but we go much further to an independent garage that we trust.
