As the title sugests really !
Took my DEFENDER back to the dealers for a very annoying rattle ! Turns out it was something to do with the brake pads ? i couldnt find out what the exact problem was but i suspect wrong pads or no anti rattle shims ! To be honest i thought the brakes were a bit pants ! hopefully the rattle should now stop and the brakes will be better ! any one else suffered from this ? DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN |

I think this is a common problem as mine were done only last week having covered 3000 miles. Seems like the shoes are too small for the callipers or something like that

Mine does it too - as did the TD5 before it. I'll be mentioning it to the dealer when it goes in for a new pinion seal next week.

my brake pedal rattle occasionally and only occurs during the car is not running. Ive talk to my dealer regarding this but I cannot duplicate the problem as it only appears very seldom. I know its not regular but its annoying... it just appear for a couple of seconds... its sounded like grrr grrr with rattle on the pedal. My car by the way is 2008 D110.
anyone who has the same pridicament? Last edited by totoD110 on 25th Oct 2009 12:51pm. Edited 1 time in total |

I have a similar problem. When I drive I can hear a sound like "kak...kak...kak....kak..." from the front left wheel. And when the wheel hits a bump or hole on the road,I can hear a rattling sound.
I found out that its coming from the brake pads. The two pins that hold them in place ,on the left wheel are too loose on the brake caliper.I can also hear a 'kak' sound when I hit the brakes for a sec. |
