I was wondering if anyone has modified their truck bed so they can secure cargo in it. Want to fix two dog boxes in it. The frame for the canopy probably wouldn't be strong enough to keep things in place.

Did you think of using cargorails?

Problem solved. Custom made floor with flight rails. Just drove the Defender over for them to put it in.

Thanks for the compliment.
We decided to go for Iroko. Think it's dense enough to withstand some light abuse. Won't treat it so that it can age over time. |

Go Beyond, i actually don't know the cost of it myself just yet...
The floor has been designed and fitted by a shipwright about 125 miles away. As he liked the idea and as a Landrover enthousiast he decided to take on the job. The intention was to only do the loadbed, and ended up on also doing an extra piece on the 'door' (whatever that's called). On the sides of the loadbed I have two flightrails, the left one a bit shorter because of the spare wheel. The guy had two come to this place twice as he first had to make the moulds of the loadbed. So total costs in the end? I'm bloody afraid of the invoice, but it will worth every penny. Tomorrow morning they will sand a couple of shiny lines of kit and finish it all off. Can make more detailed shots of it when I have her back but here's is one to start with. Click image to enlarge Not too worried about scratches by the way. The first one will hurt but the car stays with me for a long time. So after a year or two I think it will look better and better. |

That is a work of art.
Looks like you should take it to the beach with some deck chairs. A bit like the 'Glamping' version of a picnic! Glyn |

Probably the nicest additions I have ever seen on a car let alone a landrover
It is indeed a true work of Art and I'm sure there will be plenty admirers and enquiries as to who did the work... You will also need to add a tin of deck oil to the detailing kit |

Go Beyond, I'll pm you when I know more. Won't put prices in public on the forum. I know he's giving me a little slack as he really liked the idea. I'm now hoping I won't fall of my chair when they send me the invoice.
I'm for certain not going to use deck oil or anything else as I want it to age through use and sunlight. |
