I'm booked on it
Done a couple of these on Exmoor with LRE, plus the 4x4 challenge, and they are well worth doing. Mainly on private land that you will never normally get access to. We will be in the TD5 90. Make sure you bring a camera. Speaking to them yesterday it sounds like we may be doing some of the routes we cleared for the land owners a couple of years ago. On one of the tracks there is a magnificent waterfall that always seems to be in full flow. Hopefully we will get to see the plague village as well, missed it the last couple of times we were up there due to gaylanders getting beached and putting us behind schedule

Booked in and paid for. I went on a normal LRE Trec day in April, again on exmoor.Well recommended. Quite easy in a defender, it had been fairly dry so unfortunately not too much mud. Good tracks through forestry commission land. Hopefully on the Defender day there will be some challenging tracks. The table full of cakes at the end of the day is also a nice touch.

Totally different place when it is wet, the tracks are like glass. On the challenge last year it was wet and very slippery. The Disco I was teamed with went across a very gentle side slope, well actually he never made in across as he did a very nice side slide into a tree - nothing he could do about it

Bob do you think I could tackle this as I'm a complete novice with a shiny defender or is it a bit to much as a first trip It's good to be back from the dark side

Exactly what James said, you will have no problems
I tackled Exmoor with my 110 DC without any issues at all, well not 100% correct as I had to do a couple of three point turns on some sharp bends
The LRE guys are very good on these days, the pace is not fast and they point out things of interest. It is not a race to see how much ground they can cover - basically it is a fun family day out and a chance for you to drive your vehicle off road with instruction and the comfort of having very experienced instructors with you. You will have a handheld radio (they supply them) with you in the vehicle and they will guide you with regards to low range, diff lock etc. Any difficult bits they will stop and talk you through before you drive it.
