deja vu Yobbie, same happened to me just after Christmas, you should get 14+ volts on the meter, but good news is that you should be able to get just the rectifier and brushes unit, costs about £15 and takes 5 mins to fit. (that was on my 300, so I hope it's similar) |

diode pack on the back of alternator i must have had my alternator refirbed on my old td5 4 times it never lasted in the mud specially clayey mud
not the nicest of jobd to change either steve 2015 2.2 tdci hardtop xs 3.2 conversion DONE 238bhp and 707nm torque and thats just the start ;-P hybrid turbo in build -done ready to fit ashcroft atb in transfer box 6 speed auto in build |

i would start with a strip and clean and see how you go with that.

Thanks, lucky for me it's still under warranty so it's a replacement this time but I think I'll get some spare parts to carry when I go to Europe just in case.
