Well, I have been considering something to play in the mud in. Something with less electonics than the Puma, something with less in the way of carpets to get covered in mud and crap, something I would care less about if I clonked a tree here and there. I really ideally wanted it to be a soft top too for the summer days. Never had a 90 so though 110s seem better value for a base car to tit about in I had a 90 on my mind. Stretch objective then went as far as galvanised chassis so I am not staring at the thing decomposing. Oh and my budget was about 4 grand.
So after much looking on line and uncovering cars with different engines and owners who "can't remember where I got the engine or Puma bonnet" I wasn't sure what I would end up with. Anyway, a few clicks later and I have had the last bid on ebay item eBay Item No. 200912913134. Just at the nervously awaiting the seller's phone call back stage..... Any messages such as "ooh you paid a bit much for it" or "blimey, that's a dog" are not required but here's what I think I have bought. From the advert.
Now, I am not sure it has exactly the same appeal as a real SVX but it appeals to me. Just phoned NFU up for a quote. They looked at the eBay ad and want to see the latest MOT certificate for some reason before they will quote. So phoned Adrian Flux up for a quote. Fully comp, me to drive (1 car park bump 4 years ago), 43 years old, company director, parked on the drive at night, 8000 miles a year, full NCB protected, can drive other cars 3rd party, business use, 90d euro fully comp cover included, windscreen and audio cover, off road cover included is £327.02 a year. Now where the is Chepstow and how do I get there from Huddersfield??? I know what you mean, I was going to put an SVX plate on my copy and went for a '60' plate in the end |

Assuming you stuck to your budget I'd say that was smart, good engine (I've got one) I like the grill, right tyres and soft top so what's not to like result, and who cares if its 'looking ' a bit like a special edition, its stylish.
Let me know when you want to sell it for that money, my mrs would love that (especially now we have a big assed garage to put it in under cover on the 363 days when it's not sunny You could probably sell the plate to someone with an svx model - worth a try Dj 1989 200tdi 90 csw 2011 110 usw Orkney grey Buy British 🇬🇧 Defender Clothing Designs available at http://www.rangesports.com/acatalog/Defender-Stuff.html |

As you can see went a bit over but 10% is within tollerence I always think with respect to budgets which takes me to £4400 and if it had no road tax I would still have bought it so that accounts for £120 or so...... Suddenly the £4550 purchase is actually deemed within my £4000 budget Now just have to work out how to pay for it. Ideally want to pick it up tomorrow. My money is in the bank. Getting what I can from ATMs and what I have in the spare change box I can get about £2k maybe. That leaves me with a gap. The seller says no to PayPal cos the fees are high on this much. BUT the PayPal website says "Sending money to friends and family in the UK is free for you and the recipient when you fund the transfer with your bank account or PayPal balance". So can I just set my bank account up now and sent it when I get there and he will be able to see it instantly and withdraw it without fees? Anyone done this? Ask for their bank details and BACS the non-cash part as a deposit. I can't remember how long it takes to register for online banking so that might not be of use to you, Barclays post you a pass code generator which takes a few days, worth looking into.

Best way to pay is both seller and buyer go to local bank and do a transfer using debit cards. This is completely unreversible and you get a receipt from the bank as well. Never use bankers crafts etc.
Landie looks great BTW. Well worth the money with the galv chassis. The air box arrangement doesn't look like a standard 200tdi to me though. |
