For my part I had a good end to my Defender day. I finally got around to fitting the new discs and pads to the front of the 110, only the rears to do now, probably tomorrow evening assuming the rain holds off.
I have just completed the first test and bedding-in drive and quite frankly... Holy Mother of... the braking on the 110 has always been brilliant, really good, knocks the socks off the Discovery... But now... Holy Mother of... The braking is 100% better than it was, I really do mean amazing, seriously amazing difference... I can only imagine what the overall difference is going to be once the rear discs and pads are done tomorrow... ![]() ![]() ![]() Click image to enlarge Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() |

Fitted RDX lights. What a difference. The side lights look bright enough to be used as DRLs BM52

Vincent, Looking forward to meeting you. The weather is due to warm up, but getting wetter, at least it will keep more of the walkers off the lanes.... ![]() Cheers Simon |

Hi geobloke, Are you happy with the new brake disks? could you tell me (us) type and model? Have you changed the brake pads type also? What set up have you now? Hi Daniele and Nath. I have only fitted the fronts thus far, rears will be fitted later today so you'll have to wait for what the vehicle feels like with all the brakes replaced. I am still really very impressed with the difference just the fronts have made. Truly amazed. I have waited many years for the discs on the 110 to wear down enough to warrant replacing them and although I would have loved to have had the cash to have splashed out on a full set of EBC discs and pads I could not justify the extra expense. The set up I have gone for is; Front: Proline vented, grooved and drilled discs and EBC Greenstuff pads Rear: Proline solid, grooved and drilled discs and Delphi pads ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge ![]() Click image to enlarge Proline are a US company I think, could be wrong. They are the ones that make the Paddocks performance discs. The discs fit perfectly on the LR hubs all the holes line up perfectly as well. The reason for the lack of EBC pads on the rear is that apparently they do not make them for a post 2002 Defender 110. That and I think it would be a good idea not to have braking on the rear that is too good to prevent the rear wheels locking up. I do think that taking the time to properly bed the pads and discs is absolutely necessary. Hope that helps. I will update this when the rear brakes are replaced. Hopefully today :) Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated ![]() |
