Don't hold back Willie????
You cannot lock all four wheels on a Defender... try driving into a pothole and see what i mean... I had a G Wagen fitted with mud tyres and it never got stuck and it wasn't an "AMG" or cost a fortune either. It was a 280ge LWB and the chassis was like the Forth rail bridge and was protected at the factory from corrosion. It would pull any Defender backwards on any surface and even if the Defender was facing downhill.
And it never got recalled every month for "enhancements" and it never leaked and it never kicked its engine sump on rough ground either... I have had 20 LR 's and worked on them as a 4X4 Hire mechanic and the G Wagen is twice the vehicle in standaed trim... yes they (defenders) can be improved by spending £6000 on them... Who are the mugs here?? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Forgiven Willie..... we buy our Defenders and every week there is a recall or upgrade or part to replace and they leak and flash dash at us and we put up with it. After 60 years you would think they would have got it right by now.
My 90XS cost £24k and i have lightly modded it to the tune of £3k and it has had 11 leaks and umpteen enhancements and i suppose now it is all sorted but what a pain in the a..e it has been. I bought my G Wagen in 2000 and sold it in 2003 and it has never had ONE fault and i was thinking of buying it back but the 11mpg would be prohibitive.
Maybe i am just fussy??? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

If someone offered me either an Amazon or a D4 I know which one I would pick personally. Just have a look at AndrewS's gallery on Disco3 site to see what a D3 or 4 is capable of.

Or should it be up against a TDV8 Range Rover.

Ive got a TDV8 Sport at the minute - now thats some kit...ive always liked the RRS over the FFRR - so im happy!

There are other defender advantages and there are many similar problems with other cars...one thing on diff locks - TC helps the final diff problem Mike
