Hi all
I saw this and Id like to get some views from the more technical members on here as I know some mobile networks use different frequencies and all that jazz so will this work in the UK? going to put it in my defenders and see if it works well. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mini-GSM-GPRS-GP...5654626ee6 for £12.20 its gotta be worth a punt but I want to make sure the spec seems ok? There's quite a lot of posts regarding these trackers if you do a search.
The specification that they list would suggest it would work ok in the UK Like much of the electronics to come out of china there are often reliability issues but if you get a good one then they are very effective. Of course you have the ongoing costs of a PAYG sim but after the first month or so of interrogating it on an hourly basis you soon lose interest DaveW has written an amazing iPhone app to control this style of tracker. Personally, and I suppose with a vested interest, I see these as a great 'back up' but am still unsure as to the response you'd get from the police if you tried to relay the whereabouts of your stolen land rover to them |

Thank you for your informative post Beyond
Like I say for 12.20 its a bit of a no brainer so I will purchase a couple of these. I buy a few things from china and I've not had any issues with anything so far, my LED bike lights are still perfect after 4 years hard use! These should be perfect for hunting down the criminals myself if its ever nicked with a "group of mates* and do a citizens arrest 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) 2015 Discovery 4.5 Black pack Firenze red XS 2008 Corris Grey 110 XS USW (sold) 2011 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) |

No problem mate
I wasn't aware that you imported your light bars from China and for four years, wow Personally not interested in confronting some low life who'd stolen my land rover, I'll leave that to you youngsters |

I have one, not exactly like that, but a comparable one.
Works as promised, does exactly what it says, and indeed DaveW's iPhone app works great with mine! For this kind of money it is well worth! Its not my LED light bars but my LED mountain bike lights i bought 4 years ago! just to clarify!
I bought my LED light bar last year and still works great and I've tried my best to hit it on everything and mistreat it badly in the name of testing! most owners will not subject it to this sort of treatment! My poor 110 is looking a bit worse for wear but still mechanically perfect as I look after her well VeeTee thats absolutely great to hear! x2 ordered for grand total of 25quid shipped! already got two sims for £5 a month each. will post up how I get on with fitting and running it when I recieve em. 2008 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) 2015 Discovery 4.5 Black pack Firenze red XS 2008 Corris Grey 110 XS USW (sold) 2011 Santorini Black 110 XS USW (Sold) |

Not half bad for the money it seems.
Unless I've missed it, does it have its own internal battery as a backup or is it solely 12v reliant ? Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless. |

This seller seems to have a considerable number of negative comments. Surprisingly high (as a percentage it’s only 1.1%). So perhaps worth a punt.
Has anyone actually bought one? Any feedback? Merlin |

Not trying to tread on anyone's toes. But had a mail shot from 'Tracker' and they are really trying to play on the fact that a high proportion of Jammers are used for this device technology, and that vhf or uhf or whatever is the alternative to GSM combined tracking is the answer. At the end of the day if you have spent a considerable wedge of your hard earn't dosh on a decent motor. £12 for a tracker is like buying a cheap imported food IMHO.
You pay for what you get, fack the consequences further down the line. Apparently Tracker also uses it other Trackers to assist the capture of stolen vehicles. Albeit at a subscription rate. Only a short step now to Big Brother with GSM/VHF/UHF monitoring fitted in all cars, try wriggling out speeding tickets, and fraudulent accident claims then. In fact am still surprised the police don't track drivers speed via the mobile cell phone signals. I wonder if owners of high end performance vehicles pay £12 on ebay to secure their pride and joys ? |
