Never happened to us But anyway, as a safety measure we never leave the keys inside. Cheers Eduardo MY 2007 110 SW PUMA 2.4: Big Fog of 64' MY 1994 Jayco 1207 Folding camper: "El Tremendo" Click image to enlarge |

If I ever leave the key inside, I always leave a window open. About 20 years ago, the doors locked themselves on a BMW I had, with the keys inside. I can still remember the sound of the doors locking. I wasted 4 hours to get the car unlocked by BMW, so never again. Boldly going nowhere

Mine has locked itself a few times when I've been stood outside. It's never done it when I've had the keys in it, but like James I always wind the window down when the keys are in it just in case as I don't quite trust it. Peter

Yes, that exact issue. if any of the doors are open (without the drivers also being open) for more than about 3mins, the car locks and the alarm goes off. Bad times. 110 Tdci Double Cab

Open a window is a good option but, we never leave the key in the car for other reason...
We do as a safety measure against car thiefts Unfortunately, here in Chile is quite common that some thiefs take advantage of the people that leaves the key in the car for example to open the garage and stolen cars (I know at least 2-3 near cases). I've slept since I did this (need to check saved settings)..... But I'm sure you just need to have the settings changed in the 10AS (alarm ECU) - I went out to tune a Puma in Athens and it kept locking itself. On the settings page for the 10AS unit there is an option for 'Relock' - This determines if the automatic arming with central door relocking function is ENABLED or DISABLED. This needs to be changed to disabled. If my key remains in the contact slot all is fine. But if it is within 30 cm of it (for example lying on the front seat) or in my pocket outside of the vehicle, the Landy locks itself within 2 or 3 minutes. I got stuck once and had to drive 50 km home in a rented vehicle to fetch my spare keys. Never again! I have got now a spare key hidden near my long range fuel tank

Yep happened to me new years day in a blizzard, luckily afriend with a land rover was nearby and went for the spares. Tried to recreate it and haven't managed so far. When I shut the door it didn't lock straight away I just heard it as I walked away. Going to have another play when I get home and see if I can make it do it. Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

How cool is this forum. So there is something going on with the self locking. Mine will lock when the key is out of the ignition. We fix water tanks in remote places so security is not always an issue. The thing is it does not do it every time I would imagine once or twice a week.

How do you configure it to do it randomly when you least expect or it's snowing
Does this mean we can interrogate it or change the settings, if you shut the door with the drivers doorlock button depressed it just unlocks itself, so not sure how it randomly locks itself. My keys where in the ignition at the time Original Member Pie n Pea Club. 110 HCPU Tipper |

But they all come under the one heading: Will the driver be inconvenienced if I lock it? Or to pseudo code the situation Loop Has car been left unlocked? If NO then exit loop. Are keys inside unlocked vehicle? If NO then exit loop. Will Locking the vehicle cause maximum inconvenience to driver? If YES then lock vehicle Repeat 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi LROCV ::: AULRO.com |
