Intermittent TC and ABS Warning Lights!
Not overly concerned as with the snow and ice it's not too problematic to check everything is working and hunky dorey which it is!

Had a couple of occurrences whereupon i've just started driving and noticed that my TC and ABS lights have illuminated. Each time I have stopped turned off the engine and subsequently restarted rebooting everything up again with no further problems. I am not due to visit a dealer for some time but wonder whether I should place a little more priority or concern on this issue.

Question If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

If every time you spin a wheel i.e. the traction comes in and the warning lights come on then looks like you have a faulty wheel speed sensor. Just get em to sort it next time you're at the dealers. Thumbs Up Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

Icing Up Maybe????
Thanks Willy,

It only happens on driving after initial start up. After stopping and rebooting I can get the Traction Control and ABS to work no problems at all and there are no lights then 'latching on!' Everything seems to work 'like it says on the tin' so to speak. Could the problem possibly be down to the vehicle being left for a prolonged period and icing conditions I wonder? Once I am at work the Defender sits in it's parking slot for several days without useage sometimes. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

I'm sure it says in the handbook that the TC light will illuminate for 2 seconds each time it kicks in. But it shouldn't stay on for any longer than 2s as this indicates a fault. the ABS I don't know about. LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 XS SW 2.4

But TC light will come on when there is a ABS fault as it uses the ABS aystem to work.

Makes sense!
Makes sense Glyn,

As mentioned once electrically rebooted both the ABS and Traction Control operate perfectly with all indications as they should be. It has only happened two or three times on initial start up/moving off over the last few weeks. As we are now moving into milder weather I shall continue to monitor and take it into Land Rover straight away if the fault persists. If not, i'll wait until next service and mention it then! Thanks. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Yes i know that - maybe i should have been more clear; my point was that only the TC light will come on when TC is working.

Any other scenario indicates a fault Mike

Scrap what I said, it's supposed to stay on for at least two seconds. LAND ROVER DEFENDER 110 XS SW 2.4

Booked In Thursday!

Since posting, my fault has got progressively worse. It happens every time now and even when it has been 'rebooted' and cleared I can drive without reoccurrence to where I'm going and as soon as I reverse the vehicle it comes on again straight away! Reckoning I've got a sensor out! Booked in thursday this week. Having the front bumper replaced under warranty as well, the underside trailing edge paint is flaking like bu993ry! Will let you know how I get on!

Sorted Hopefully!
Took it into TH Whites where they swapped out the bumper under warranty. They aparently 'ran a diagnostic' on the TC ABS system and 'suspect it was a dodgy earth!!!' Reading between the lines they had a little fiddle and the fault went away. We shall see, I insisted on a provisional booking in a weeks time together with a courtesy vehicle should the fault return. Can always cancel it if it's sorted! Sorry I/they couldn't be a little more precise for 'fellow sufferers.'

Guess What?
Vehicle's back in today. 20 minutes after picking it up the fault reappeared. I had already made a booking (see previous post) and have a courtesy vehicle as well so if it's not fixed by lunchtime when I knock off they'll not see me or their courtesy vehicle til Monday at the earliest. Fault beginning to get on my t1ts a little now......
Will naturally let you know how I get on....... If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
