i dare say the dealer uses a HWPW to clean it anyway.
i use one on mine at home about 60deg works well. too hot, too much pressure or combination of the two will strip paint off let alone any chassis protection, which if its post Oct 08 it prob doesnt have any anyway! i wouldnt worry about it. I have to wonder how you all wash the chassis of your Defender. Do you all have at home a lift or a pit?
I use public car washes and the access to the underbody (especially if I wanted to keep the jet 8" away) is not very easy. Boldly going nowhere Discovery 3 after a Defender 110 Crew Cab TD4 and a 1964 SIIA 88 Regular. |

Take two car ramps to the jet wash or Ask AndrewS / NoDosh to do it for you

I would like to do that but I don't have anything strong enough high up to connect my winch cable to.
So I park my cars sideways on a slope and lie down on the ground to clean the underside and then turn the car around and wash from the other side. I also requently use 2 garden sprinkler systems under the car and feed them with a good electric pumps so they have a good spray. This cleans most offroading muck off. You have to move them in little steps so it cleans everything. Only very sticky clay is a problem. That's not very sensitive to water and the problem is I live on reclaimed land so I have very sticky clay in my area. For salt it will work well as salt dissolves in water. Just leave them long under the car. Just remember AndrewS 's winch is load tested for lifting and has an official load rating so don't trust your own, I'm not saying don't do it, I'm saying use some common sense and don't stick your head under there Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

You could do what I did and connect my cheap-ass Karcher up to the hot water connection for the washing machine, under my sink, flooding the kitchen, but managing to look after the all important 90!
Its got a suction tube for the shampoo, which is rubbish, so I'm going to buy a snow foam lance, which should keep the pesky salt at bay! |

Like I said Garden sprinklers do wonders. Use the bow type that also spray upwards. Roel
