Should I be worried now? Will get my Defender 130 in a couple of days to tow my Caterham when she brakes down, again...

Looks like a great forum btw. Will be introducing myself when I have the car.

Well the loaner I'm in gets a solid 1 no problems but she sure is thirsty.

Dealers Auto Prestige LR solid -10 ( no not a typo they are better than a zero)
Called me yesterday to say car has arrived at customs will be cleared in a few hours feel free to come have a look.
Went in today to find the car in bits carpets out seats out windows removed Shocked Big Cry
Dealer a it's our pre check we know they come factory fitted with a few water leaks and rattles so we fix them before we hand it over, all windows re sealed, all exposed ally is nylacked ( no idea what this is or I the spelling is correct) and frame gets coated with por15, battery box gets rubberised and footwell get por15. All hinges get some fancy oil that prevents them from rusting. Thumbs Up Bow down thought it was an expensive car but clearly they build in some pre delivery extras not requested.
How can I not be impressed at this stage, plus I've had their demo for the last 3 weeks while this baby got shipped to dear down under. Only 5 days to go I can wait, sure I can if I try really hard and camp outside the dealership I'm sure ill make it. 2013 Orkney Grey 110 SE on order should be here on 20/04

I think it helps that I have supported the dealership group on a fair few Audi s, they might have a heads up as to how full of s-word I can be. In saying that I have alway had fantastic service from the Audi side even comes with unlimited free grooming or the life of the car original purchaser. Same for the Landy go have fun mess it up phone and book in a groom no charge. Of all the dealers I have had the misfortune or pleasure to deal with they are by far the best, not big on discount but for the service you get I don't really mind. 2013 Orkney Grey 110 SE on order should be here on 20/04

I have no idea. If it had been the usual dealer i'd have assumed they were going to polish it but forgot to put the mop on only it wasn't?

I guess the bonnet was off and the got carried away with a pneumatic socket???

.....

Paranoid thoughts are creeping in now too....the coolant level is low (I'm sure it wasn't because I took it in) and when I left dealer this am my dad said what a load of moisture there was coming out of the exhaust???? Shocked

0 for the car which is brilliant,
1 for lookers Colchester who are very good with the car and I,
10 for the approved paint shop they use. (I'd happily run every single one of their useless Censored employees over with it, despite sorting it all out now. Wink ) Defender puma dormobile camper

I'd have to say 1 for the vehicle and thats only because of the roof leaks I can't fix till summer or I build a workshop extension (unlikely) and the fact she is 22 years old now!

As for dealers I have always used Harwoods in Tonbridge and they have always been fantastic. Do me a good rate on the labour and help with parts too. I have never felt aggrieved to give them my hard earned because I feel like they work hard for it and nothing ever seems a big deal to them. (in honesty I think they like having it in because its refreshing to get to play with spanner sets rather than laptops!) Always happy to run me from the dealer to the station and have even delivered my car home once the work was done so it was ready once I got home from work! Only problem being that they are still quite pricey compared to independents.

Also used RCV in Paddok Wood recently and found them to be very cheery and helpful, would use them more but its a pain for me to drive out that far to drop it off.

So Vehicle 1
Harwoods Tonbridge 1
RCV Paddok Wood 1

My scale goes up to 11.9 with the dealer. The car has`ent had any problems apart from the original ones they seem to be unable to fix.
I find myself being pulled towards a hilux, amrok just a shame they are to big for my needs however a vw transporter is also a thought. Which is a shame as i love my 90 and the fact there aren`t to many round here that aren`t covered in checker plate. Oh yea what is the checker plate thing all about, how did it come about ?

Chequerplate started off as protection for the wing tops during servicing etc and also allows clambering about to access the front of a roofrack [especially if the bonnet is plated too]. The stuff then became fashionable and gained poser value helped along the way by a few companies who marketed the stuff to 'protect' additional bits of the vehicle and in some cases cover up corroded door bottoms and rear cross-members and the like. Steve.
