2009 Defender 90 Puma 2.4 HT Keswick Green

puma stuck in gear

i have a 09 defender 90 with 30k miles, yesterday i went to start it and found it in gear, i never normally leave it in gear but though little of it, then i found i couldn't take it out of gear no matter what i did, i have a warranty on it so gave them a call, within an hour the support guy arrived, he twisted the gear knob like a door handle and after a bit of wrestling he sorted it, he says its quite common but i'd never heard of it, has anyone else had this ??

My last car did this. Was told that there was a modified part for the selectors. Land rover changed the gear box in the end as the part was not available for a long time. Think they only did this as they had to provide me with a loan car ( brand new sport) while they sorted the problem.

mine did it... something in the selectors fell off, apparently made of plastic.

sorted under warranty, took 3 weeks mind you.

its odd, it hasn't done it before or since, seems perfect but i have a warranty until next september so if it does it again i'll play my face
