Headlamp leveller makes a ticking sound
Noticed a constant ticking sound coming from one of my headlamps when the lights were switched on. Headlamp where the noise was coming from did not seem to adjust up or down when I turned through the clicks of the headlamp levelling control on the dashboard. A replacement for the headlamp levelling motor (part number AMR2090) is about 20-30 pounds so I'll be putting in an order for one and hopefully this will solve this small issue. I have HID bulbs so I thought I’d better get this sorted before I scorch anybody else’s retinas and get a name for myself.

I wondered if anybody has ever opened up the headlamp levelling motor as it seems to be sealed in rubber? Once I get the replacement I very probably will dissect the knackered one so I may have to report back some appropriately dull information on it - because that’s how I roll.

Has anybody suffered such a problem like this before? It’s an odd sound and starts any time I turn on the lights, not just when I turn the headlamp levelling switch.

I know this is a slightly old thread now but did you manage to fix the problem - I have exactly the same with mine. Where did you source the motor?

Hi cobs,
Yeah, I replaced the motor (a 10/15 minute job, 5 if you know what you're doing!) and upon turning it on, it immediately wound itself up and down for about 20 seconds before settling at the perfect level for the headlamps! Thumbs Up

I shopped around for the part (search for AMR2090) and eventually settled on Island 4x4. They rapidly sent a britpart item but it works perfectly and was reasonably cheap. Can't complain.
