Have you looked at the Fuel Pressure regulator located at the rear drivers side corner of the engine, beneath the inlet manifold?? A common fault on TD5's and i have just done my Discovery which takes 2-3 hours but 1 hour i believe on a Defender.... £100 ish from Land Rover.
My old one was dripping and i have it for sale with it needing an O ring to fix and it comes with the two pipes as supplied from LR. (£60)?? 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS.. |

Agreed,
I have had a similar problem with my TD5 and it turned out to be the pipe that comes from the FPR to the block. Stick you head upder the bonnet and use your nose! 2002 Defender 110 DC |

99% of leaks from FPR's are the O ring in the diaphragm which is held in place by a circlip. LR supply the two pipes that you never usually need.... 2008 RS4 gone, 123d M Sport, and a Puma 90 XS..

Mine had just had the a new FPR fitted, bt after a long run down to Cornwall the feed pipe from the FPR came loose, dumping 1/2 tank of diesel in 30 miles. 2002 Defender 110 DC

hi Red-DOT
Why would it be yes i don't know where the leak is i have looked under the pressure rail and it has a smell of diesel so it may be that i have had two regulator fitted first one failed at 25k started running poorly so they changed it. that one lasted two days and went funny with poor running again and the same fault code. i am sure some one has had more than four fitted that why land rover changed the part from the complete rail to just the end valve they are going to replace this one next time it is back in the dealers i will come looking for help where i want. being one of the first TDCi defenders made i have had lots of problems and have found the forum a god send. i have posted lots of information as well. i thanks you for your help but not your comments about wind up poster Daniel |
