To be honest, that's a decent price. And it's a Richards Chassis, so you'll be very pleased with it! Top quality, and extremely helpful An engine to TDi for!

It's in the right ballpark. Look in the Back of the LR mags for the advert from Specialist 4x4 Services for a comparator. They say they include other bits (springs, shocks and exhaust IIRC) for a lower price but that would be plus VAT so you'll have to work out the spec differences and do the maths Fully Restored 89 110 CSW V8

Sounds about right. Paul who does the chassis swap for them is a member here. I had mine done by Paul about 3 yrs ago, I also requested galv body cross members etc. He also supplied & fitted galv tree sliders. I also supplied him with an Ashtree galv bulkhead to fit at the same time. I supplied other parts like suspension, fuel tank etc for him to fit also. He did a brilliant job and was done within a fortnight. Highly recommended I made a thread about it here.. http://www.defender2.net/forum/topic6892.html?highlight=bonatti |

Do it yourself! I have replaced the chassis on a series 3 and a SWB Defender. I am ok with a set of spanners, but I am no expert, so it can be done. It depends on a number of things I suppose, how quickly you need it done, how much money you have to spend and if you have access to somewhere to do it.
There is no better feeling though driving the vehicle knowing that you built it! Drop me a PM if you want more details |

Steve - I'm fascinated to know how long it took you?
Took me 2 hours to change the turbo gasket today. God knows how long a chassis swap would take Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

I used specialist 4x4 services a few years ago and would not recommend them. |

True, I think my chassis was £1,200 alone, possibly plus vat? Then fitting on top. |

I thought that sounded expensive?
Mate just had hers done [richards galvy chassis too], and total bill came in under £2500. Guns and Landrovers .... anything else is irrelevant. |
