Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Thanks for all the input chaps ... very helpful.
As much as I would like to rebuild myself I just don't have the time / space or know how to do so. The only way is to get a specialist or garage involved. I've just spotted these guys http://www.tonks4x4.com/customisation-from-tonks4x4/chassis.html apparently they can do the whole job for £2200 inc parts, VAT & Labor! Anyone used them before? I will send Marsie a pm this evening see what he has to say. |

Not meaning to pick fault, but... It says "from" so could be more expensive, and it'll be a Marsland chassis. Absolutely nothing wrong with them, but I think they're cheaper in the first place (??), but they are made from 2mm steel, whereas Richards' are made from 2.5mm steel An engine to TDi for! I made sure mine would last by waxoyling the box section inside and out having painted the outside in POR 15.

Probably not a good idea to post on a public forum, but after collecting twice from Durham driving back to London in a series, ended up off the road for probably 6 months putting it back properly and most of all safely!! |

I went to Tonks before visiting Marsie at Richards. Tonks big selling feature was giving it a 2" lift using britpart suspension. I didnt even want a 2" lift but it seemd to be their standard service to give it one. Not sure why. And yes they use Marsland chassis. I then went to visit Marsie and paid him to do it all. Mine is my daily drive so I couldnt afford the time or the space to even try doing it myself. |

Fair enough. I wasn't recommending them either, just noting that they advertise a price as a comparison. I used TJC for mine but as part of a bigger restoration so I can't easily compare prices on the chassis change alone. Lovely job though, used a Marsland. Fully Restored 89 110 CSW V8 CLS 350 CDI for the sensible stuff |
