Not exactly defender related as mine decided it didnt like its injector any more so we went out for the day in her freelander instead. Was quite impressed really, just glad i know the area well and missed the bits it would have trouble with.

Ahhh, Rudland Rigg (not Ruttland ! ) - one of our fave places. Looks a bit colder than last time we were there, which was last May, on our 25th Wedding anniversary - was about 20 degrees and bright blue skies! We were lucky to catch the only full week of summer weather of 2012!
In May the steep descent down was really washed out in - lots of big steps and very rough even in a Defender. I heard on the grapevine that it was being repaired ..... Did you make it down Ok in the Freelander ? Our blog - http://landytravels.com/ Yorkshire Off Road Club - http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net |

If that is the descent I think it is we could not get down it a couple of years ago in the 110 as it was so washed out. If we were not running solo that day then I expect it would be passable but it was not worth the risk. Good excuse to do a 180 and drive all the way back, it is a fantastic route and we were surprised how different the scenery was on the way back. Certainly on the to do list next time we are up in Yorkshire Bob 2015 Jaguar XE240 R Sport - goes like ....... !! 2013 Defender 90 CSW - sold 2009 Defender 110 Double Cab - sold 2001 TD5 90 CSW - offroad project - sold to a forum member 2011 Porsche Boxster - for the sunny days ! |

Its much better now than it was a few years ago, went up in my 90 on Christmas eve with no problems at all. coming down in the freelander was OK, just very slow as we had to be inch perfect all the time due to the lack of ground clearance. We gave the HDC a good work out, it works well but not as good as having a low box. The north end of the track is still pretty washed out but we didn't go that way in the freelander as I'm sure we would of had more trouble down there, but in the 90 it was fine. Pete |

Yeah, the timing for the lovely weather was so perfect that it seemed like we must have booked it 25 years in advance! Our blog - http://landytravels.com/ Yorkshire Off Road Club - http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net |

Yesterday we paid a visit to Gary at Alive tuning to get a few bits and pieces supplied and fitted onto the Puma. The Puma now sports one of Alives new style intercooler, samco XDB hoses, new style decat pipe with the bracket mounts for the turbo heatshield and a new stainless exhaust. Once everything was fitted Gary did a new remap file to enhance the new mods, a test run later and yes, what a difference.
I also got a set of the new Alive instrument cluster panels in mph, need to wait until I get home before fitting though. All in it was a great day and it was good to meet Gary and Ben. All the bits were fitted by Jim who after speaking too in great length and watching his every move is a very talented landrover mechanic whom I will now feel safe in allowing to work unsupervised by myself on my Puma. I would like to thank Gary,Ben and Jim for making me and Elaine feel welcome and for putting up with us and the myriad of questions directed at all three over the day. |

Removed & cleaned the MAP sensor, well worth the 10 minutes or so it took to do.
