I also had this issue when I wanted to add a Blue Sea Aux fuse box. I didn’t want to cut the terminal, but if you did I believe a 35mm2 terminal is required.
In the end I removed the current T style bolt and replaced with a longer ss bolt (m6 from memory). I simply ground down the head to match the existing bolt. Refitted as normal then used a spring washer and nut to secure a M6\16mm2 terminal as per below. Hope that helps? Click image to enlarge |

Thanks guys, is the 35mm you are quoting the terminal size or the cable size, is the cable 25mm, 35mm or 40-50mm. Thanks for the picture I can't quite imagine it at the moment and will need to look at the battery when I get home.

the general rule of thumb with winches/ battery cables etc is the thicker the better, thicker cable gives less voltage drop over a given length when drawing heavy current through it.
i use 50mm2 cable for all things battery/winch related. |

If going to a 12 way fuse board do you need to fuse it down on the way? 2.2 2012 110 utility Orkney Grey

The battery earth cable size is 35mm - buy a terminal for a 35mm cable
You don't fuse earth cables only live There is a mega fuse already fitted in the live / positive cable Hope that helps |

I have a similar query...I'll post it in case it helps...or maybe someone will tell me the error in my plan
Following the negative line from the battery, it leaves the seat box at the trasmission tunnel, then splits under the chassis member. One part goes onto a M8 bolt on the chassis, and the other (thicker) end goes onto the back of the gearbox (from memory). Rather than make a change in the battery box (warranty concerns), I was going to crimp (and insulate) a 8.4mm Ring Terminal onto the chassis earthing point, and run a 27 amp cable back into the seat box... On the positive side there's a spare point on the battery lead connector anyway (it's just the earth/neutral that doesn't have a spare easily-accessible connection). Would my plan be OK?
