OK can anyone tell me what this noise from my Puma is?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WoPvoSkR26Y Here are the symptoms:
I'm wondering if it is the waste gate but it appears to be coming from the passenger's side rear of the engine (possibly from the area shown in the first part of the video). 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi LROCV ::: AULRO.com |

Ours did it and the EGR valve was changed. It still does it though, albeit a little quieter - I don't think it's anything to worry about.
You might as well get it looked at while the warranty is there. |

Looks like the answer popped up on AULRO forum first. EGR valve cleaning cycle. But it does appear to be excessively noisy. It will have to wait until I can drive out the 1100km's to the dealers in June or July this year as the track out of town is now well and truly impassable after 4 days of good monsoonal rain. 110 2.4TDCi

Perfectly normal - ive not yet been in one that doesnt do it, they all should.
I suggest yours is loud as you have the bonnet up. If you need a pilot to fly you any where, ill specially come across from the UK to help Mike Last edited by mse on 3rd Jan 2010 3:15pm. Edited 1 time in total |

It's bad enough to ship it out on the barge. Works out about AU$3000 one way to Darwin. 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi LROCV ::: AULRO.com |

Oddly that is quite a loud noise but like mse said your bonnet is up so I might give it a try and put the video up on youtube just to be certain since my car is going this saturday for the park brake recall issue. '08 LR Defender 110

Same noise and number of cycles on mine since new but more muted from the cab. Always assumed it was normal!

I should point out I can here this from over 10 metres away and also from inside the house, it's very loud. I'm glad it's "normal" at least, as here I was thinking I was the only one. The other two Puma's in town don't do this or at least it's not noticeable. 110 2.4TDCi
