Actually, just checked and the deal includes free GiffGaff to GiffGaff calls so I can also use the voice function from my phone to the tracker.

No mobile network reaches everywhere. For your purposes I'd say a mobile with good antenna pick up is important. The small &/or complex pack more hardware & have less antenna space as a result.

I find older simpler phones, even those with an exterial aerial, pick up weaker signals than my Blackberries. So a phone that is for tracker only might be best, also less background functions = less battery useage.

If you go for layered, i.e. multiple trackers, a different mobile/network for each tracker is good belt & braces. Land Rover Defenders. 67 years heritage, minimal appearance changes, still going strong all over the world. For those that were testing the app, it's passed review and is available on the app store now...
https://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/tkcontroll...1&mt=8

You should delete the test app and install the release one from the app store. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

They aren't at the moment but if you want to point me at a manual for the one you have or send me the codes I can always add a "device type" to the device definition that would allow you to choose the type of device so it can generate suitable commands.

Wow, that would be great! Here's a link to te manual: http://doc.diytrade.com/docdvr/1022758/12106463/1268449652.pdf

Dave, App looks great! Do you think its possible to adapt the app with the commands for my tracker? Cheers, Vincent

I think so, although it's not as straight forward as just changing the commands, for the stockade function, as an example, you have to set the stockade first and then activate it as a separate command as far as I can see from the manual anyway.

I'm looking at adding a "device type" to the device settings which will allow me to change the way the app behaves and the text on the various buttons. With that in mind and assuming it stays with 8 buttons on the front screen, what would be your preferred functions for each of the buttons ?

Stockade On/Off can presumably stay the same with perhaps an extra button on the stockade map screen to set the stockade area ? http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

My device does not have a Shock sensor, so the Shock On / Shock Off button could have an other function, e.a. 2 preset stockage area's? Or you could switch the relay on and off with these buttons?

I did buy this device with a group buy together with about 60 other members of a Land Rover forum here in the Netherlands, so I think there would be more people interested in this app Thumbs Up Cheers, Vincent

Sorry Dave, I was not one of the testers but I've just downloaded the app and it's brill Smile Works superbly with my TK102b , all the core functions covered and saves the 'Now.... what the heck was the text for that command' situation.

Would you have any objections if I promoted the app elsewhere ? Thumbs Up Jon - 110 td5 [sold]. Currently Defenderless.

+1 Mr. Green

Found my replacement delivered in the garage and tested with the app already - brill Thumbs Up

Only thing that would make it significantly better would be if the phoning/messaging was all internal to the app itself, rather than having to open the native phone/message apps but I realise that will never be possible due to the nature of the tracker's function.

It's a great piece of work and makes controlling the tracker sooo much easier (and posher too) Bow down

Hi Dave

For some reason, my TK102 (latest V6) responds to "shake" as a command, not "shock". Is there any way for me to change it?

Also, Get Status ("check") has no effect on my tracker (no sign of it in the handbook either) - is this a function of the other units?

Cheers

Might be because you have a TK102 rather than a TK102-2 mine are TK102-2 and I assumed they'd all be the same, command wise...

Changing the command is no big deal, did your unit come with a CD with a copy of the manual on it by any chance ? http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

Apparently "TK102 V6" is just GPSVision's name for the Xexun TK102-2 (V6 is one of the newest models).
Mine has the shake sensor and microSD (don't think the older TK102's have one). Perhaps shake/shock is a firmware difference?

Also, my command is "shakeXXXXXX 1" where "1" is the sensitivity (can be between 1 and 10... 0 turns it off). The app's "Shock" command doesnt have this?

Came with a manual but no CD. GPSVision is one of the main distributors for Xexun in Germany and they print their own manuals in German. Tell someone you love them today because life is short.

Really handy looking app DaveW Thumbs Up

Any chance it can be made to work with a 3gs running iOS 4.3? I know I could upgrade to a higher iOS version, but this would compromise a couple of my other handy 'apps" Whistle

Also I see that it can work on an ipad but I can't send commands via text from my ipad? (or have a got something wrong somewhere?)

The tracker that it works with is the one available from "Bondstory" , if so I'll get some on order as I have a couple of things I want to keep an eye on.
