United Kingdom 2006 Defender 110 Td5 XS CSW Zambezi Silver
Bought my TD5 110 from them 2 years ago, excellent service and a new Freelander as a courtesy car every time I visit. Pity that their 80" has disappeared from the display mound outside, but it is MOT'd and running.

Not to happy with their alter ego down the hill though as I had many problems with my disco 300tdi after they fixed it when a cam follower spun and stopped the cam from turning, but that another story.

When I was looking to by a 110 I looked at a Puma at Aylesbury and the TD5 at Chipperfield. Stratstone you felt like you were just another punter buying a 2nd hand "defender" note the lower case "D" the salesman drove us to the petrol station and put £5 in and let us drive 5 miles towards Leighton Buzzard. Chipperfield just threw us the keys and told us to go away and enjoy, it even had half a tank of Diesel!!

The crunch was what they would offer us for px on a 2 year old Corsa Embarassed . Plus the TD5 had a full roofrack/snorkel/seat covers/cargo bay tray and was 9 seats instead of 5, given that part of its life is as a Cub Scouts crewbus and outdoor activities support vehicle and that Chipperfield offered us the asked for price on the car there and then, thats what I bought. (Stratstone actually tried to ring me while we were signing the paperwork)

I confess I have used the latter for servicing though as the are £200 cheaper !!

All extended warranty and spares are bought from Chipperfield though. He who dies with the most toys wins Smile

Don't worry, the 80 is still in the village, now lives about 5 doors down! Wink

Taking the old truck visiting last year.

Interesting thing is it is a bit of a hybrid like mine as I seem to recall that it is running later S11/111 axles like mine, plus the doors are form the 51-53 with the external door handles too.

My 110 was round the back being prepped for delivery at the end of June.

Nice photo! Thumbs Up

I'll bring my 80" in one Saturday once it warms up a little, she's tucked away for winter at the moment!

Cool, mine too its over the valley in Kings Langley at the moment, lives in a friends garage.

I take it you are local to me then, I am in HH, perhaps we could meet up for a chinwag some time, occasionally walk the dog up on Chipperfield common. He who dies with the most toys wins Smile

Right now I am just about behind the top left corner of your alpine light in your photo above! But, yes I'm local (Tring direct).

Once March is out of the way let me know if you fancy popping up with the series one, the pub on the common is good! Whistle

England 2013 Defender 110 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Santorini Black
Popped in unannounced to Chipperfield this morning. Great welcome and service.
Very Happy

I went in to look at the Baltic Blue Defender they have. Derek took me for a drive in their white '62 110XS as I hadn't taken my driving licence. I had only wanted to get a good look at the blue in good light.

Very enjoyable hour or so with coffee offered too. Now very likely to try to get my 110 XS there as soon as funds allow. Thumbs Up 1970 Series 2A 88"

I drove it last Friday, I absolutely love the colour if I could always keep it clean, work nicknamed it 'Moby Dick' when I turned up in it. With the name having no reference to the driver Razz ===================================

Hi Jeremy

I'll bring my 80" in one Saturday once it warms up a little, she's tucked away for winter at the moment!

Might get the 80" out this weekend Jeremy, Have started ordering all sorts of goodies this week, starting with a full set of Parabolics, a new petrol tank and tank guard plate. Very Happy

Might even treat it to a new Weber as it is starting to drip fuel onto the inlet manifold.

Have you fired yours up yet this year? He who dies with the most toys wins Smile

Not yet, I think there are a couple of large straw bales blocking it in at the moment!! I will get it out soon though.

Is yours a wide spring then?

Wide front but narrow rear.

However I am on S11 axles, so there is packing between the U bolts and springs on the rear.

I have been chatting with Jones Springs, they take 2.5" rear parabolics, machine down the ends to match the narrow hangers then retemper the steel.

Just ordered them yesterday. There is good feedback on the LRSOC forum about Jones. They have made several sets but said that they had not had any feedback so had dropped them from the catalogue. But a few of us had a chat with them last year and they said they were happy to do them again.

£150 each side but the as I am on the later 2.5" fronts (1951-3) they are a straight off the shelf item.

Should be easier to locate the back axle correctly Thumbs Up He who dies with the most toys wins Smile

chipperfield change of ownership
Just had a letter from Land Rover telling me that Chipperfield Land Rover has changed ownership and are now part of the Lookers group.
Is this a good thing or bad thing? Always had good service at chipperfield although their prices are a bit lively!

I met the LR salesman from Chipperfield a couple of weeks ago, they were at BP HQ presenting a new RRS with limey/yellow door trims ... nice guy... not sure about the RRS trim though
