True.

The stealer is fitting Tbox #3 and clutch plate whatever#. Tbox 1 was good until 8kkm and Tbox2 was rubbish (overhauled) since the begining (about 45º slack on front output shaft after 10kkm). Now, Tbox3 (also overhauled).......do not know since I have not seen the rig for nearly 3 weeks Shocked Actually I went to see the box when arrived from the UK to check on the slack (nothing noticeable).

The stealer said they are not allowed to ask for brand new parts but just re-manufactured, even though microcat shows both alternatives; being the new one about 700 quid more. But, who cares? Still have 6 months of warranty Whistle Puma 110" SW

Some parts are reconditioned and some arent. If a part is reconditioned there is an identifier - im almost 100% sure you shouldnt get a reconditioned steering box as part of a warranty claim

T/box, Diffs, Gboxes all are Mike

FWIW, when I was making a scene after the steering box fiasco the dealer told me that they could not get new ones and that the only ones available through LR Genuine Parts were recon.

Hi 110SEB,

Like yours my vacuum brake pump on my 57 reg 90 CSW (14k miles) started leaking oil with only 2 months of the warranty left. Usual signs - oil splash inside the bonnet and an oil drip on my new block paved drive (wife not to happy). Anyway, dealer replaced with nice new shiney one, mechanic said commom fault with defenders. He also said they have had no problems with the new version since the double seal was introduced.

Can you see if the pump under the link is of the new type?

Link (e-bay): Vacuum Pump

My pump, replaced in 2008 started to leak today. It was good for 24.500 km.
The first one was replaced after 21.000 km. Janusz

Mine has just developed this fault (I think as it's sprayed the underside of the bonnet with oil), going in Tuesday to be sorted.

Ours went today on the 2008 Puma, with 77393 kms. I noticed some oil under the Puma which is unusual as it does'nt leak. Lifted the bonnet and the usual symptoms. Checked the oil level and it was at the Low mark. Phoned the garage where I bought it and told them to get one in.
"Are you sure it is the brake pump?" came the reply. Gave the symptoms and the Wabco name so enough said. It'll be a 40 mile drive to get it done so when I get the date I'll top her up and head down. Should last the 40 miles without top up.
Still happy with the Puma overall. Might change the oil when the pump is done if there's much topping up to be done. Might give this a try -

as it is Puma spec and a good price
€34.49 for five litres, and €9.49 per single litre, delivered.
They also do free shipping to the U.K.

Got the vacuum pump done today, quick enough job. While it was in there I got her up on the lift and got the engine oil and filter done, I just happened to have the oil and filter in the back Whistle Checked the diffs. The front was black while the rear was fine so got the front diff oil changed. Lower bushings on the rear shocks were slack so got them changed too. Managed to grease the props too. Don't you just love it when the independents let you run wild in the workshop Thumbs Up Got charged for the vacuum pump and fitting there of, the front diff oil, bushings for the shocks and a sump plug. Beats lying on your back in the yard. 1982 88" 2.25 diesel

Have some issues with vacuum pump too, a little leak from under the gasket I suppose...
Bought a new one, as experiment - "ford analog" for $60. Will check if it fit...
Any opinions, mates?

Yeap! The 60$ fits nice!

So, there's no need to buy LR original & overpay for it...

The second part is gasket. There are 3 different types of gaskets I discovered.

The best one is in the middle: the rubber rings are thicker, then LR

The third part: the pump is easy to repair by replacing the old O-ring with good rubber one the same size

(original on the left & the new one - on the right)
