Loving the Defender in this weather
Compared to the Range Rover, it's slow, noisy, cramped, not luxurious, basic and totally unrefined.

BUT, its been such good fun to use, and today was my last day's shooting, and in the snow too. I think I enjoyed it more today than I ever have, was just brilliant. OK, the windows get steamed up, it crashes about a bit, its slow as hell (when compared to a TDV8 with 315BHP) but its awesome fun and every journey is an event.

Here's some pics from today. Great to see it being used after all that work and WOW those heated seats were SO worth the effort in the end Thumbs Up

The view from the inside out:

Always knew the roof lights would come in handy, using it to light up the inside of the barn where the birds are hung up so we can pick them at the end of the day: (Father & Brother ruining the shot there)

Cheers Guys,

I really appreciate the feedback received. It's been a long term dream to do this to a Defender, I feel very lucky to have 2 of my dream cars.

A few months back when LRO were scouting for TD5's to use in their TD5 buying article, I proposed mine to the editor and he refused it on the basis it had too many mods, then the cars they used had ever MORE mods! Go figure. Big Cry

I'm just waiting for less chilly weather so I can wire in the driving lamps I got for Xmas. 2016 D4 HSE

Hey I proposed mine and it was a 100% standard out of the factory even with white steels 110 CSW Td5 and they didn't go for it...

Took the Defender out today after a couple of weeks of no use, I take it down a farm track that's heavily rutted and muddy, gives the suspension a good flexing - so much so the dog starts whining in the back!

For some reason it seemed so perky and quick today too, really enjoyed being out in it.

Steve,

very funny! I still have yet to put my Xmas present spots on the front. Need weather warmer than 0 degrees to do it in!

It wouldn't surprise me if mine has already been remapped, the previous owner had done many other mods under the bonnet and I know it has the type of ECU that can be flashed (you can check by the serial number).

One day, I might pop it into JE Engineering in Coventry if I get to keep it that is. I may have to sell it this year to fund either a house move or swapping the Range Rover, will have to see. Gutted if I do. Big Cry 2016 D4 HSE

If you have a Nanocom you can read the file name and identify if it has a remap.

Hope you don't have to sell it, you have done so much work to it.

Had a bit of fun out in the Defender today just along the farm tracks on the shoot. I took my GoPro Hero3 Black with me and stuck it on the rear and front sides whilst driving, just to get used to it and using the remote control. All went well, though the footage isn't very exciting, apart from when I popped out of some ruts and the back end came out Whistle

Here's a still shot taken at Tesco, where I am just about to drop a wheelbarrow of mud on their lovely clean new tarmac at the pressure washer. It doesn't look very muddy but the arches and chassis were caked. Rolling with laughter

The wide angle of the GoPro is brilliant. Here's a still from the footage I took yesterday.

What is wrong with this picture..... Whistle

Nothing if you prefer to off road sideways Wink

Would not have worked on my old 90, as I used an LR file name for the remap Wink

Edited down a small section of the GoPro footage and slowed it down. Should have switched off the audio and the TD5 sounds bad at low speed.

I know I am not off-roading like a pro, the whole point was to get the car reacting to inputs to flick mud about for slow-mo filming.

It was still in Low 2nd though, and no I didn't have Diff lock on when I crossed the ruts.
