Hi Ian,
Is your process the same as 'flocking' ? |

That's correct Eric! Gonna make a picture tomorrow morning when it's bright again, alternatively there is a single picture in my gallery |

For what I have seen the ones Ian sells are a suede like fabric and look like they were always supposed to. Flocking is a spray on process. Great on dash parts to keep down the glare but I don't know why anyone would want it anywhere else. |

It's not black, it's charcoal Alcantara with grey stitching. Probably you can do it as a DIY if you have a good source for the cloth

Thanks for the feedback. When you saw Pornys headlining does it feel the same as flocking ? The reason I ask is that flocking is a lot cheaper and (although I have no first hand experience of both products like you) they appear to 'look' exactly the same and I wondered if they felt the same ? (I now realise that one is material and one is sprayed, thank you ![]() |

No, feels totally different. Flocking is like a furry plastic, the suede on Ian's head linings is a lot softer.

Thank you for the quick response.
We've started flocking trim plates for the inside of our glove box lids as I've never been happy with seeing the plastic and the flocker has offered to do the 130 headlining. I'll ponder it some more. Thank you again for your feedback ![]() |

I like the idea of flocking the underside of the plastic parts as it must look loads better. For the headlining i'd definitely use cloth.
Think of it this way, would you sell any leather covered parts if they where just painted to look like leather? ![]() |

I think you've hit the nail on the head !
It's a question of paying top dollar for real leather or Alcantara or go for the faux Alcantara like Pornys as a kind of half way house or bottom of the range (price wise) is faux Alcantara 'look a like' but maybe not 'feel a like' (but then who strokes their headlining) Flock. Thanks again for your input mate ![]() |

Cover it with black Velcro - then you can store loads of stuff on it, sort of like a second floor
![]() But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Trouble is what if the fancy stuff needs a clean up? Some of us use our Defenders for work / dirty stuff aswell as trying to keep it looking nice. The Alcantara is very nice but I reckon it'd be a pain to keep in top nick when dogs shake muck onto the head lining.
