I had something similar on the passenger door whereby it seem to allow water to accumulate in the door (drain holes were clear) and then dump it on th aground when opening the door.
That turned out to be an internal part called a 'shedder' which I believe is something for directing the water inside the door in the right direction. It maybe that yours has come adrift and water is finding its way inside instead of draining out the holes at th bottom. Good luck with it. Thanks DJ that makes sense. I've just had a good look and there's definately water coming from between the door card and the inside of the door right at the bottom on the driver's door only.

Just been down the local 'we'll wash your car for a tenner' and discovered that when they pressure washed the passenger door, water came in the top of the seal, so might be worth checking that as well. I guess I'll have to adjust the door a bit!
Still its nice and clean for the weekend now. DJ 1989 200tdi 90 csw 2011 110 usw Orkney grey Buy British 🇬🇧 Defender Clothing Designs available at http://www.rangesports.com/acatalog/Defender-Stuff.html |

I wonder if the dealer who tightened up the door handle has either not refitted the membrane that is there to keep water away from the door card or has just torn it to get access to the door handle and left it like that and just refitted the door card. 2005 Td5 90 XS

Just took off the door trim to check as I have the same problem.
So what did I find ... the soft membrane was ripped in about 4 places near the bottom, half the bottom part of it was not stuck to the door with that black goo they use. Thoughtfully enough someone had left a blob of the stuff stuck to the metal inside the door frame. Had the pleasure to find two of the bottom clips, still attached to a bit of the door card, broken off and lying in the door. Glued those back in place. As luck would have it I also succeeded in breaking one off myself ... tried to glue that one back on, but no joy. (it did stick wonderfully to my fingers) Taped the rips up inside and outside, used the black blob of goo to stick the membrane to the bottom of the door and for good measure taped it all off. Biggest problem was getting the handle from the window winder off ... what a pain that was. Also do not do this with the car parked on gravel. When I pushed in the little pins on the 2 black clips so I could get them out, one of them "escaped" ... spend a good 20 minutes before I found it again. (Living in Malaysia not that easy to get a replacement - especially with Chinese New Year coming up) Also found the early beginnings of rust so since I had the card of sprayed the inside liberally with the local waxoil version before putting it all back together. |

I'd love to take the door card off but I'm a bit scared
Anyway I need to go back to the dealers for a couple of warranty jobs ( the usual - rusty mudflap mounts, headlamp bezels and possible pilot relearn for the injectors ) so they can sort it out ! But as always great information. Thanks guys |
