Perhaps something like this:
http://www.justkenwood.co.uk/car-audio.aspx/kdc-bt52u-car-radio Price is good for something temporary... Failing that have a look at any others on that site plenty there to look at. Replied On another note as the permanent replacement, what do you experts think of this unit- I have been using Pioneer since 1999 so not really wanting to stray away as they have always preformed more than I have needed. http://www.pioneer.eu/uk/products/25/121/61/DEH-80PRS/page.html Thanks, Glyn |

Have you considered a DAB radio?
Pioneer DEH-X6500DAB could fit the bill! |

I saw DAB mentioned in another post.....But..... Here in Cyprus there is no such thing as DAB, and in the UK- middle of nowhere there is no DAB signal. I had a D4 HSE as a hire car once and it annoyed the heck out of me for 2 days before I found out how to move to regular radio.

Should be fine with that and has good power. What speakers are you running? Pioneer do some pretty powerful 10cm's slightly more powerful than Kenwood's actually. No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

At the moment I am running Infinity Reference full range speakers (35W RMS) as I got them for a really cheap price but am looking to change them at some point for a set of component speakers- I feel I am losing out on the base by having the full range speakers and the tweeters- so changing them both would hopefully make things better.
I would go Infinity again, but they don't do a 4" component . Glyn |

I have DAB in my D4 and we live in the Peak District and also travel a lot. The DAB reception is pretty good all over, surprised me as I thought it would be rubbish. But listen to Radio 5 all the time on DAB, as well as Radio 4 (I'm old ) and I get great reception. My next radio for the Defender will be DAB. Cheers Simon |

Only issue with DAB is the manufacturers need to integrate it into all Head Units and not just sell selected DAB units. No Guts, No Glory.

Couple of weeks ago I bought a JVC KD-50BT unit. Cheap, approx. 85 €, but comes with iPod connectivity, 2 USB ports, SD card slot, Bluetooth, microphone / handsfree kit and remote. (no CD player though).
I think it is very good for this kind of money. Easy to install and easy to use. Sound is OK also (depends on your speakers of course). Cheers for all the input, giving lots of ideas on what to look for and also making me realise what I don't need.
Ok, to put DAB into perspective.... when I say middle of nowhere- I am not talking about a bustling area like the Peaks or lakes...... for example the closest McDonalds to home is over 30miles away.... I thing closest DAB reception is about 50 miles away.... here is a picture of UK DAB coverage with an arrow pointing to 'the middle of nowhere (AKA Home): Click image to enlarge Ok.... bluetooth with mics etc...... hmm, now I am going to be super embarrassed..... this is my current phone which I have no plan to change in the foreseeable future: No camera, no bluetooth, no internet- but it makes and receives calls and messages, oh and has a standby time of approximately 2 weeks I do have an ipod touch though and therefore don't need CDs. This is why I was looking at players that didn't have a CD slot. Today I realised that even BT connectivity isn't needed, but an add-on later if I get a better phone is a good idea. Which has bought me to this: Click image to enlarge http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-ida-x311.html Has everything I could want including the ipod lead in the box! Has an optional extra BT module add-on if needed at a later date- very simple design, no CD and weighs in at £120.... might have a winner!! But keep the ideas coming- I have already pretty much given up on brand where before I was really looking down the line of Pioneer.
