you can either take the whole dash cluster out by uncliping the wiring harness on the back, or you can remove the black peice which is again just clipped in place, as i did on mine you know the walnut bit on mine- is this what your talking about CSK Automotive

Yep, that bit Chris. Not much point in taking the lot out but that bit can just be taken out on it's own rings fitted then positioned back in place right? $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Great. Just thought it would be much easier cleaner and less likely to get damaged that way. Much easier on a flat surface than with the wheel in the way and at an angle. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R
